It is what most people would refer to as a T3 flange, pretty basic 4 bolt setup.
If you are really interested I could probably dig it out of the pile of junk at the back of my shed.

Are you just interested in working out whether you can get a decent upgrade to bolt to it?
It is potentially possible to get a decent turbo on there but you will have to be pretty good to make an adaptor that will fit in the bay and at the end you will probably be disappointed anyway.

New Garret's are so cheap I wouldn't mess with anything else and an SP manifold works well if you can find one.

Buy any of the commonly available 1.8 cast manifolds from the states and a used nissan t25.

Im trying to keep it as stock (looking) as possible. That way I should be able to swing it in as the fitting of a factory option which doesnt require an engineers certificate in NSW.

Where can you get them from? I just want to see how stock they look.

Cheers.

Would unicorn horns be able to withstand the heat?

Not to mention, who would you be able to find who could weld up a unicorn horn manifold?

I can't really comment on the availability or thermodynamic qualities of mythical phalluses...

SP manifolds are around if you look hard enough, I found one for my SE.

Plenty of stainless ones on ebay, quality varies a lot and they certainly don't look stock (don't forget to search for Miata as well).

What is the issue with getting it engineered?

I may be mistaken, but I think MX5mania had access to genuine SP manifolds at some stage, you'd do a lot worse than give them call and ask. If I recall though they were quite pricey.

I may have an AVO 1.8 cast manifold and dump available in the very near future too, these fit the same garrett T25/28 frame turbos as the SP ones, but are a different manifold.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

Issue is I dont want to get it engineered. They are fairly expensive and Ive heard they just became a whole lot harder thanks to newly introduced regulations.

Where are you from?

have you actually done any research yourself or are you just going from internet rumours?

NSW. Ive looked into engineering certificate on other cars, that was about 6 months ago. Even the cheap/dodgy ones were expensive.

But Ive also heard (internet rumours) that they are now going to require drive by sound testing. Which is going to increase the prrice even further. I havent had a good look since then, so I dont know how true it is.

But through RTA regulation you're allowed to fit factory options. Such as larger capacity motors, factory turbo kits, etc. And while not 100% true in my case (nb kit on na8) it might allow me to talk my way out of getting defected for a couple of weeks :D

Anyway thats all a bit OT. T3 flange was the answer I was after. I can at least compare skyline exhaust housings and see how hard they will be to fit.

The lawsuit will be a lot more expensive than an engineers cert. If its all most a factory option shouldn't be too hard to get signed off.

You might want to look at / talk to deweeezle about his malibu which he is getting engineered in nsw .

I'm pretty sure the SEs don't use a T3 flange. It's an IHI turbo but the flange is different to the Subarus. It's pretty unique in its own way. If you want to keep the manifold try messaging flyin Miata to see if they still do the housing upgrade. Or BNRSupercars

I dont plan to take it to a law suit. Just drive it until I get defected. My family and friends have a fair bit of experience with defects and the like.

I've inquired about engineers certificates before and have close friends who have gone through it, so I have a fair idea on the process.

If I get EPA'd then I will get it retuned to pass the test and that will make an engineers certificate easier to get.

I appreciate the concern, but its not really needed. I just wanted to know the flange type.
