Yellow Speed Coil overs on an NC

Hey guys,

Just had 2 shocks go on my NC and i was looking at replacing them anyway, this just gave me a good excuse to do it. I am very seriously looking at the Yellow Speed Coil overs but i am open to other suggestions, was wondering what people thought? I am particularly interested in hearing from those with setups on NCs but all suggestions welcome,

Where abouts in Sydney are u? I'm in the southern suburbs, if unare around there I can take u for a spin in mine.

Does anyone know how low these can go front and rear on an NC?

MX5 Mania installed YSRs in my NC about 8 months ago. I then lowered them about another 1 cm all round a few months ago. They are now sitting at between 330 and 340 mm hub centre vertically to guard all round. If you want, I will try to a get a good side on pic.

I am very happy with the YSRs on my NC. I have used them, with different settings, for a couple of track days, for commuting, and weekend trips with my wife. I credit the YSRs along with a quality wheel alignment for making my NC more pleasurable to drive.

The original shocks, with 60'ish thousand kms, were too "bouncy", particularly at the back.

The only downside, bu choice, is the reduced ground clearance, meaning I have to be more careful of driveways and speed humps. I also think that the rebound damping may be a little soft compared to the compression damping, but that is really nit picking.

When I first got mine, theere was no easy way to access the rear shock adjustment in the boot, if you wanted to have the boot lining installed. I spoke to David & AJ, and they contacted the supplier who provided 2 prototype remote adjustment cables that work a treat. If you do get the YSRs, make sure to also get the remote adjustment cables for the rears.

Cheers for the advice guys, decided to go with the YSR.

The other pending question i did have was regarding setup.
Is there a "standard" setup that people use? or at least something that you find effective?

Thanks for the offer of the ride too, i am in the northern suburbs / hills area and that may be a very good option if im not happy with how mine feels.

I suggest you try a ride before you buy, just in case they aren't to your taste. I did :-)
Better to know before you spend the cash.

David at MX5 Mania has a standard setup for ride height and damping settings that he uses when installing the shocks. Once that is done, you can experiment from there for yourself.
