All the nuts have seized on the cat so I couldn't fit the exhaust today, I have soaked them in wd40 and hopefully I can get them off tomorrow. If not I can take it to my local mechanic and get him to do it.
You guys are scaring me a little, stop ruining my excitement :/

If you have issues with the nuts "rounding them off" Irwin tools do a nice nut/bolt extractor witch is available from Bunnings
http://www.irwin.com/tools/screw-bolt-e ... p-base-set

I suffed a set of nuts on my cat the last time I changed my exhaust on my Na.

Hint with the RSR, you might want to get a custom midpipe made with a 2.25" Glasspack Resonator.

RS*R ExMag GTII
A bent piece of shiny metal should not make me this happy lol.
IT'S SO EPIC!

I couldn't get the bolts off yesterday so I cut out some new gaskets by tracing the old gasket it came with onto a gasket sheet.
Image

The day started with me trying to get the nuts off after letting them soak in wd40 overnight. I was unsuccessful, so my good friend Luis booked me in to Concord Customs asap.
Being on the hoist I noticed some oil, apparently this is indicative of a leaking rear main seal. This made me sad :( They cleaned it for me so I can see if/where any new oil appears.

Ofcourse the bolts put up a fight, so he cut them off, drilled the studs out out and put a new bolt & nut through the hole.

Comparison

I copped a fair bit of sh*t for having a lame hairdressers car with a fart cannon exhaust.
"Nestle called, they want their Milo tin back" etc etc etc
They also wouldn't let me put the silencer in.
So we went for a drive.
Holy sh*t its LOUD - You cannot hear yourself scream past 2.5K revs...
It sounds really good if your outside listening to it drive past, but actually sitting in the car it resonates and hurts your ears ALOT lol.
After 2 mins I had a headache and was very very sad.
BUT if you put the silencer in... SO NICE!
yes its still loud, but there is no drone, and I can talk and listen to music still.
It is a little farty/raspy with the silencer, so when I get my high flow cat I will look into getting a new mid-pipe with a resonator.
But I am super happy with it, and it looks really good from the side 8)

Defensive Driving Course: stage 1
I got given a voucher for this for Christmas, so I decided to use it before I go to uni.
It was pretty good, abit slow/easy at times, but I did learn how to brake from high speeds, which I theoretically knew to press and release the brakes to avoid locking them up, but it was great to practice it 10 times  However I did use up all my front brake pads  Any recommendations for new ones??

Action shot

At one point they said "Go round the corner at 50km/h and don't brake, to feel what happens"
While almost every other civic/cruise/falcon/lancer struggled, of course my little MX5 shot round perfectly with no under/oversteer or skidding. It was quite funny
I love this car.

 I did a defensive driving course with the Subaru club once... Same thing, the MX5 cornered faster than all of them. The WRX boys in particular were NOT happy

haha gold! i did the same course with my cousin when he got his P's. I had my NB and yeah the speeds round the corners made for a rather boring'ish day for me... all the other cars were all over the place around the corners!
