NB8B seats into NA8 - anyone done this?

Postby marty085 » Tue Feb 07, 2012 10:33 am

So I picked up some NB8B seats today (perfect height for me, a tall bugger) and I am assured by Mania and others that my NA8 seat rails will bolt right on.

I'm not concerned about the seat rails, as that looks right, they should be fine. But I am concerned a little about the seat belt receiver. On the NA8, they are attached to the side of the seat, which in turn is attached to a thin horizontal bar that attaches to the back of the tranny tunnel. NA6 I understand has longer seat belt stalks bolted directly to the tranny tunnel behind the seats. With these: http://www.mx5mania.com.au/product1386.htm

I've managed to pull the receiver off the side of the seat (attached with a bolt and a small aligning screw, it seems) but not sure if this will simply bolt to the side of the NB8B seat in the correct location so as to allow me to continue using this bar?

Anybody done this, and what solution did you come up with? I guess the options are:

- Use NA8 rails and receivers
- Use NA8 rails and long NA6 seat belt stalks attached directly to the tranny tunnel
- Use NB seat rails and receivers?

Cheers
Marty
