Has anyone tried this? Is it worth getting?
I'm tossing up whether to give this a shot, or if i just go for the tried and tested M105/M205 combination?
Don't suppose anyone in Brisbane has a bottle that i could try a little bit on a panel?
Thanks,
JG

Re: Meguiars Ultimate Compound
Yes, i have tried this. I tried it on my mum's 10 year old extremely faded red Suzuki Liana as a test first. Her poor car has never been waxed or polished its whole life and has lived outside, never garaged . The paint work was extremely faded, all the plastic panels and mirrors were flat pink in colour and very rough to the touch.
So i spent about 2 days in my garage cleaning it all by hand, no orbital polishers, using Meguires foam applicator pads and micro fibre towels. First a quick clay, second Meguires Ulimate Compound, third a polish with Meguires and lastly, you guessed it, a wax with Meguires (i actually waxed it twice!).
After every stage the paint work became better and better. I was truly amazed when it was finished. Every panel looks a brilliant deep red now and feels like glass. My mum was very happy!
One think to note when using the Ultimate Compound is that you must only do small areas at a time and remove it straight away. This is becasue the Compound dries very quickly and becomes hard to remove unless you re-apply it.
I used it on my Red NA mirrors and front bumper which were slightly faded in places and now they look like brand new.
So give it a go, and maybe try it on old car first if you can.
Cheers

Re: Meguiars Ultimate Compound
I've used it to get rid of some scratches on our Mazda 3, just the fine stuff when people rub past the panels with bags etc.... Works a treat. Always follow up with a polish though to seal the paint again. Also removed lots of the swirls in the grace Green on my MX5. I think that if this stuff doesn't work you will need to go to the more professional products with buffing wheels etc... You can use UC by hand, which is what I do. Bonus - it also removed the dulling/yellowing on my NB8a headlights.

How long can you wait?
I'm in bris, have a supercheap auto voucher and a bunch of swirl marks on my car. I'm willing to grab some and give it a go, and you'd be welcome to try it out for yourself but I can't say how long until i get my arse in to gear and start taking care of my car. I'm keen to get a few more opinions on it first, too.
