Replacing Door Locks while Keeping Original Keys

Hi All - I recently had to replace the passenger side door lock on my NA because pond scum tried to jemmy it, and I found a new old stock lock on U.K. Ebay for $50 + post, and then John Barnes Locksmiths at Salisbury(Brisbane) reset it's tumblers for about $35 to match the original rest of the car. Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I thought it might just help someone. Cheers Derek

Thanks Derek, that's good to know. My locks are starting to feel a little stiff, and I'm starting to think maybe it's time I got new barrels put in. This sounds like a cheaper and easier route than talking to Mazda!

Hi Lee - It might also be worth asking the locksmith the best way to go if your tumblers are only stiff (before you buy new locks), because on my old Ford Courier, a locksmith just replaced the tumblers in the dodgy lock. They can do a lot with them that I didn't know about.. And I'm no expert, but also check first that your locks aren't stiff because the it's the door mechanisms that actually need a grease - that was also a problem with mine.. Cheers
