As the dollar has become respectable, I've noticed that there are quite a few of us on this forum (myself now included) who have purchased Ohlins DFV's. I thought that I'd start a thread to discuss settings, preload etc so that any prospective buyers can at least benefit from our experience as well as learning from each other what does and doesn't work.
Clearly, the place to start is Charlie Brown's outstanding "how to" on coil over installation in an NC which can be found at viewtopic.php?f=79&t=40918
I'd be interested in finding out how people have set theirs in relation to the factory recommended settings for the street:
Spring Preload : 2mm
Front Rebound : -12 clicks from full hard
Rear Rebound : -10 clicks from full hard
Ride height : as out of box -35mm off standard
Has anyone yet deviated from these or yet done a track day ?

Re: Ohlins Settings for NC's
OK, I'm in.
Front preload is 2mm
Rear 5mm
Front setting around town 22 from full hard
Rear 24
This is a little under damped and the car is still very comfortable on smooth roads (are there any left in Sydney?)
at 10 F and 12R...
At Wakefield I had 4F and 6R and had understeer over the top with the front bar soft and the rear in the middle after setting the rear bar soft as a precaution
and getting huge understeer.
I regret being too timid to take the rear bar up harder that day and maybe softening the rear shocks a couple of clicks.
PI I used the same bar settings but backed the shocks off to 6F and 8R.
The car felt very well balanced at this BUT I was learning the circuit so didn't play any more....hell even the tyres were set and forget that day!!
Remember that this is also a very high speed track where, for the most, the car can be balanced on throttle when required.

Re: Ohlins Settings for NC's
Bars are 24mm 3 point adjustable front and 18mm 3 point rear, both bent for me by Ray Selby, very close to Whiteline spec.
I have only the std strut brace but am looking at the Rigid after reading a few reports on the product and benefits over the OEM flexybrace

Excellent choice ! I have a Carbing/Okuyama in the post and hope that it's here in time for Wakefield: http://www.carbing.co.jp/international/ ... 4160.shtml
Now I just have to get the Ohlins in and set up and choose a rear bar...

Re: Ohlins Settings for NC's
Toys went in today. Currently running front pre-load at 2mm, rear at 3.
Have to play with ride height but am currently running F -12 r -10 and the ride is superb and the traction awesome. Feels like a different car...
Will bed in for a week, re-torque and see Stu and then Wakefield here we come.

Re: Ohlins Settings for NC's
Tried F - 6 and r-4 on the RHS
Kharma would not allow changes to the LHS rear so hard to make a call but T4 and the fish hook were the best Ive been through them. All other corners were challenging....... Ass out there like a fat chick at a disco.....
Judgement will come when I have 4 adjustables :-)
