timk makes up for talent with an EFR

Yo,

Here is a quick pic of my 1998 NB:

It's pretty stock except for some suspension changes and extra creature comforts.

So far I have done the following:

SE brakes
Tein Super Street suspension
TorSen LSD
Wider wheels

It came with Whiteline swaybars, so that was a bonus. Future plans include a 6 speed gearbox and TODA 1.6 flywheel.

Looks great mate, why bother with the SE brake upgrade?

For the money its not really worth it unless your tracking?? i suppose then u would be better off with even better braking but spending even more.
But if u got the se brakes cheap then why not

I'm selling my track car so this car will be dual purpose track beast and daily.

I picked up the SE brakes when an SE owner went to Wilwoods.

I moved across the Carbotech XP10 pads from my track car and I have to say for street use they are horrible. Very dusty and extremely (bus-like) noisy! I think I'll be getting some street pads and swap in the XP10 on track days.

Tim,
I am running the carbotech 1521s for street, and swapping in the XP10s for track.
Seems to work well. They are smooth and consistent, and cleaner than the red stuffs i have on the rears.

PS, when are you going to stop referring to your cars as stock, or 'pretty stock' ?

I'm surprised that the Carbotechs are cleaner than the EBC RedStuff pads since a key selling point of RedStuff pads is their low-dust levels - good to learn this from someone who actually has both pad types on their car.

Love those bronze 6ULs on a green MX5 (they look great on black too).

Do you plan to upgrade from the Tein SSs for trackwork or do they have non-standard springs?

- sad to see the Track Pig is going, I wanted to see how far you would take it.

Cool, I'll grab some of those pads and do the same. The engine is stock so the car isn't too far from stock!

The Super Streets are a great compromise on a daily drive. I had 8/5kg springs on them when they were fitted to the track pig but for this car I've gone back to the 6/5kg combo.

The track pig will be missed but I no longer have a tow rig, so the decision was a no brainer. It's great to be able to drive an MX-5 on the street again as an added bonus!

Not to stir anything but they don't appear genuine as they are multi stud. Not a specified bore pattern!

They still look the works.

Yeah they aren't Volk, they are Konig. Fairly light and 8" wide though!

Whoops - I didn't look hard enough and assumed that Tim had moved his Track Pig's 6ULs onto this car.

Konigs are a popular alternative in the US.

Nice and neat. Yea, I've read the Konigs are actually quite light - only around 0.5kg difference between some of their 15" wheels and 6UL's for example.

Can I ask what size / tyre size and offset you have Tim? Did the arches need a roll?

they are the 15 x 8 +20 iirc.. also if u know ur wheels, real ce28s actually look multistud but arent just just these ;)

Factory brakes, factory diff, some suspension that feels like a camry and wheels. Sounds pretty stock to me.

Hardly fair to call a car with different wheels modified.

Each to their own.
