Soft top treatment...

The soft top treatment can be a bit of a challenge it turns out. Instructions with the 303 protectorant say simply to spray on and dry with cloth.
When I spray it on , where liquid has hit the hood surface there's a dark shiny area. In between there's a lighter area. So you have a slightly patchy result, even though I've sprayed it on liberally and wiped lots to spread it with a cloth. I can't imagine you have to drench every centimetre with a flood of the stuff, especially on non-flat areas where it runs down like water, yet if you attempt to put an even film over the hood it simply soaks down where you spray but not between the sprays.
Am I doing something wrong here?
On the dash etc. without the "bubbly " rough surface of the hood , it spreads fine.

Try it again with a damp hood. I do mine right after its been wiped down from a wash.

I'm thinking to use a paintbrush to apply the 303 next time and work the stuff into the texture with the bristles. Might avoid the patchy look that happened last time.....

I use a Microfibre towel (any soft cloth with some pile to it will work)

I think the trick is to apply the 303 to the cloth, then wipe the cloth on the roof.



The paintbruh will probably just soak up way too much of the 303 and will mean you waste a lot.

At $16 bottle, that paintbrush is gonna be mighty dry at the end!
...don't know why but several cloths still didn't get the stuff down between the "bumps" of the vinyl top fabric. Maybe doing it while damp, dilutes it and helps it spread a bit better as mentioned?.
