If we ignore the odd sedan or SUV with the audacity to drive the Putty Road early this morning and the caravan at the end of the gorges then the run up the Putty Road was slick, well managed and great fun. 8)

Well done Victor, Alan and your committee. A good run needs good organisation and you guys have "done good". Thanks for everything.

PS. Did the HamxSter get back without a clutch :?:

What a great way to start the 2012 Breakfast Club year, top drive, top people and top venue. Certainly good to get through the morning before the rain.
Many thanks for the organization Vic. :D

Loved the photos Gavin, very artistic.

well.... that certainly turned out to be an interesting drive...

Had the clutch slip a fair bit at the track the last time I was out, but it worked ok on the drive back, so thought it should be fine for a few more weeks, and I could change it before the next track-day.

Guess not.. lost the clutch entirely just after we left Maccas. Not so bad, but my clutchless shifting skills were all of 23 years previous, and I didn't want to practice in the gorges, so it was a 4th gear drive most of the way. Not bad, but annoying having to hold up traffic, esp. certain black NAs with tailgating, intimidating tactics that doesn't seem so funny now, when the shoe is on the other foot  I'll behave from now..

Managed to stall the car coming up to an intersection and couldn't get it start again, my theory of clutchless shifting requiring a small hill and blipping in second.. with no hill in hand, it required the skillz yo, of young rmuir who showed me, that apparently, you simply need to just chuck it in 1st and let the starter motor push the car... how embarrassment.. Thanks Rob.. appreciate it, and happy to have learned something again..

Back in the day, starter motors wouldn't last very long or push that hard.. If it wasn't for wrecking the starter motor, I quite like the way the car takes off with a clutchless start  ..

Breakfast was a rushed affair, as I had to drive my clutchless car back home and swap over to take the in-laws to the airport, yay, happy daze..

Drive back wasn't so bad esp. on the freeway, in spite of the rain bucketing down, but was a bit of a bummer once I had to get onto Pacific Hwy with ridiculous traffic, pouring rain, lots of traffic lights that were on the wrong side of a hill, and idiot drivers that simply couldn't understand not to sit right on the back of a car with its hazards on, in the rain, driving uphill.

Thanks again Victor for the great run, even though i caused much consternation when I went past you guys at the stop, and then again at the regroup, but honestly man, clutchless or otherwise, the real reason was that I can't bear to be driving behind you... Remember kids, NEVER OVERTAKE THE LEADER, unless explicitly invited to do so.. yeah sure... Not to worry, there's still Petrich's run...

Now to order in Xtreme HD clutch + 4.75kg chromoly flywheel and make fitment, would be a good time for a transmisson flush (might get some of those missed 4th shifts out).. and manage a drive somewhere before the next track-day

Sorry mate, I wasnt sure why you had moved back, I saw your car and thought, 'hey man how are you? ok If you want to drive with me no worries!'.

Sorry Obviously had no idea you had mechanical issues as you were cruising along in 4th and you didnt go down into 1st to let me by.

Obviously I know why now.
