thanks Guran
They're coming out to be $160-$190 each here. That's why I usually check out Brisbane prices ....
Looking at getting 15" wheels too, maybe used ones, as that size seems much cheaper..
would need to finish same size though...

Best price I got for the KU31s so far is $185 at the KMart Tyre & Auto at Mt Ommaney.

I'll keep ringing around for a bit and post the best price I can find. After today's misadventure, I'm pretty sure I need new tyres.

$175 Bob Jane Enoggera. All a lot more than the $115 someone mentioned in Sydney
though!
Just quoted $170 at Kmart Caloundra

Tempe have specials from time to time. They list on E-bay as well... my set of KU31's were $81 ea and I paid $40 to fit/balance at Mo-town tyres locally. So $364 total...That said they were 205/50/15 so I'd expect them to be cheaper than 16's.

I've really liked the KU31's so far. Biggest thing I've done to them was a navigation rally which was somewhat faster than I was expecting...but they had good grip and I never had a scary moment in wet or dry like my previous sets of tyres. I used over 3mm of treaddepth on the trip so I wasn't dawdling either

Switch to 15s. Buy from Tempe. Save big money.

When I used to live in Buderim 2 years ago, I'd go to Advance Tyres at Kuluin, they charged me $4.40 to fit and balance tyres.

Advance Kuluin quotes $15.50 to mount tyres, says $6 worth of weights
Then again he said Tempe tyres Kumho's are not covered by warranty and when I checked, they are!
Might go elsewhere . Kmart  sell 205/45/16 KU31 for $170 complete....might be better.

Mate, the $115 / tyre price I've got last year was fitted and balanced...

If you're spending $600+, there might be another option. Will PM you in a sec.

Where was that pricing from though? Tempe Tyres as well?

Tempe Tyres.

205/45/16

Just bargain with them on the phone or call another time to get another sales person.

Make sure you get the name of the salesperson though as they always try to raise the price when you get there:

"Was the quote for $125 a corner?"
"No mate, it was $115."
"Ok sure. That'll be another $40 on top for fitting and balance"
"Sorry mate, the quote of $115 includes fitting and balance and the disposal of the old tyres"
"Really? Gee that's cheap."

How did a thread titled "Alternatives to KU31s" become a KU31 price guide?

I got my KU31s in 195/60/15s for $105/- a corner, fitted and balanced at KMart Ryde. Happy to pay the small difference in price to avoid the hassle of going out to Tempe and more importantly, not to have to deal with the bodgy imbeciles there ..

Dealt with Ozzy Tyres once... never again... Lies, misdirection, credit card fraud...ugh..

Hey mate,

I've got Kumho Ecsta Sports on my MEX - albeit in a 195/50/15. I find them excellent in both wet and dry; very progressive and just seem to grip and grip and grip, despite road surface conditions. The wear rating on these is 340 which is very high also.
Not sure if they come in your size (sorry I'm lazy) but I do highly recommend them.
