Well! One year on.

For the sake of good record keeping, and for anybody who might benefit from this thread, an update:

The car has remained my daily drive since last January. The condition has actually improved! No visible wobble any more. I guess it's called a harmonic balancer for a reason. Anyway, really happy. One MX-5 keyway story with a good ending.

I'll post back here if the whole thing grenades at some point ;)

Great little update, always nice to have a story with a happy ended thanks for being so informative.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Having an NA6 with the original SNC B6 still in it, I try to be vigilant about crank pulley wobble. Thanks for your update, I wouldn’t have seen this thread (which predates my forum membership) without it. Good to know the recommended fix actually works long term.

do you have a wobble?

I did and investigated and was shocked with what I found. a very worn keyway with a dodgy fix. I have done the locktite fix and will see how I go. not holding my breath!

in saying that I took it to the track 2 days later and it survived :)
