Power window issue

Postby jerdes » Tue Jul 26, 2011 1:32 am

My drivers side power window on my NA6, goes down fine, but doesn't want to come up at all..

I've read that cleaning the switches might work, just wondering if it's a possibility something else is wrong. Going to try to clean the switch first thing in the morning.

What would be the next thing to check if cleaning the switch still doesn't work?

Doesn't want to come up, meaning the motor grunts but barely moves, or just nothing (as if electrically dead) ??

okay just finished, the switches were black as black could be, looked like it had been set on fire.

Good to finally get the window up, as I had to leave my car outside with the window down last night haha.
I'll probably also have to give lubing up the window as well, as it also seems kind of slow at stages.

Looks like my drivers window is now electrically dead, I've tried cleaning the contacts to no avail.

Is there a chance that the drivers side of the window switch is completely dead?

I'd grab a multimeter and start poking at things so see if you can make circuits or not. If you don't have one, you can pick them up fairly cheap at Dick Smiths or Jaycar.

I'd ask a local member to try out their working window switch first. If its still no good, could be the actual motor in the door, cables or regulator. Where are you located? If it ain't too far you could borrow my spare auto one.

My passenger side cable that pulls the window up snapped yesterday, $45 new cable from mania or entire used $110 regulator/motor/cable from mx5plus. Hmm..

Another thing to look out for when cleaning the contacts is to make sure they go back in the right way. I learned that lesson the hard way.
