Oh and it's a good idea to pack a set of pliers if you're relying on a roadside puncture repair. You'll need it to remove the nail/screw/rock/whatever that has caused the puncture. (He says having just checked the repair kit in his BMW and noticing it did not have a set of pliers! Does now. )

A rear tyre on and MX-5 might have to be removed to get at it - depends where the puncture is of course. The NC does have a jack and wheel brace. It's a good idea to have a set of pliers and a couple of screwdrivers in any car. I notice that the MX-5, Astina and BMW "tool kits" all fall short in this regard.

I just had a read of the instructions for my back-up "can of goo". It's not pretty reading. The propellant is hydrocarbon (probably propane) which is highly flammable. It's fairly safe if you use the can alone to fill the tyre. But do not be tempted to top it up with compressed air. You'll create an explosive mix of propane and air which only needs a spark to set off. Not nice. So if you're forced to use a can of goo, make sure you follow the instructions on the can.

The repair kit that came with my 135i consisted of a double-end screwdriver ... and a roadside assistance card! :roll:

It doesn't even have a proper dipstick! Sign of the times and the demographic. :evil:

My mates Suzuki Swift only has the jack and the wheel brace

No screwdriver nothing

I feel privileged then. :mrgreen:

The 325ti has a micro sized tool bag (see pic) with a 10/13 mm open end spanner, double ended screw driver, tow hook and strange looking allen key thingo. Plus there is a jack, wheel brace, wheel chock, locking nut adapter, emergency triangle, space saver spare and a little white baggie thing (see pic) to put the dead wheel/tyre in so you don't make a mess of the luggage area.
