Ladies Day at Queensland Raceway February 18th

Postby 90VSP » Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:50 pm

Whilst this is not technically a motor sport event and is also an add for an event at QR here is a chance to get the partner or friend involved in some on track experience. Details are below.

LADIES DAY
Saturday the 18th of February
Queensland Raceways, Ipswich

"I had a ball" was the overwhelming response from almost 30 ladies who participated in the first ever Ladies Day held at Queensland Raceway on November the 20th 2011.

Women from throughout the South East corner of Queensland and the North East corner of New South Wales enjoyed the newly resurfaced track without the aggression and testosterone fuelled race environment of men.

With the positive feedback and enthusiasm from all of the participants, another Ladies Day has been planned for Saturday, February 18th kicking off at 9am.

There will also be an Advanced Driver Training day just for the girls as well as a Women Only race at the Ipswich Open Sprints in March.

At each of the Ladies Days, women of all ages and abilities are invited to bring the car of their choice along. Instructors work with the ladies to improve their skill behind the wheel in a safe environment at a speed of their choice.

The Ladies Day was initiated by the Historic Racing Car Club (HRCC), when a number of ladies were interested in spending time on the track without their husbands. Tony Hastings of the HRCC brought the idea to Queensland Raceways and a day was developed for ladies to have time on the track in their car, at their speed regardless of whether it was a purpose specific race car or
their much loved daily driver.

Book your spot now by visiting LADIES DAY ENTRY FORM or calling 1800 RACERS.

Be sure to check out the calendar at http://www.qldraceways.com.au for more info or stay tuned to the Qld Raceways Facebook page to get involved in the conversation about upcoming events.

So Qld Raceways wont allow Clubs to use instructors, at our sprint events, but provide them for 'their' own events.

Whats up with that?

The BMW club use their own instructors at their sprint days at Lakeside but I don't know what qualifies them as approved instructors. I know some are experienced racing drivers...

The MX5 club isn't allowed because a few years ago a passenger went out in a car without having signed the indemnity form/paid the fee/worn the wrist band, at an MX5 club track day. Perhaps the question needs to be asked of QR again to see if they'll start to allow us to take passengers again...

Does this mean I will have to bring my laptop to keep myself occupied while my wife does laps in my car? Or will the men also have a chance to drive?

Perfect, I'll go get my hair done and get my manicure & pedicure while she rips it up at the track :)

Aha! I've always wanted to know why passenger rides stopped, I just assumed some d#ckhead from another club was doing stupid things that wrecks it for the rest of us.

I seriously hope that the incident wasn't "dobbed in", that would suck. No foul, no harm I say... bring back passenger rides!!
QR can charge a smaller fee like they did ages ago, so more $$ to them.

Nope, it was at QR, and the car exited the pit lane while QR management were upstairs in the office looking out the window and watching proceedings. QR management came down stairs very quickly, and a black flag ensued...

Ahhhh.... I must have had a brain fart reading these posts, I added 1+1 and came up with 3.
I thought the unsigned passenger went out with an instructor, but after re-reading it, it seemed like a passenger simply hoped into any car with an amateur driver. Fair enough for QR to come down that.

Now I'm peeved at that particular person because he/she wrecked it for the rest of us.

Just take Monday 26/11/12 off and come along to the next club track day at Lakeside. I'm certain you'll have plenty of fun. PM Zero or JBT for more details.

Sure!! Come along 26 November and have a look, see if it's something you would enjoy and then plan for next year - I went and watched 3-4 before I got the courage to have a go!!
