Coloured Wheels
Hi
I'm looking for some light good quality rims for my NC2, and also looking for a certain colour scheme, e.g bright yellow or fluoro orange, but can only find rims that aren't compatible with the mx5. Has anyone else looked into this sort of thing?
I'm confused also with offsets and such....the NC2 rims are 114.3 with +55 offset and weigh approx 7kg? ?? I'm after a more aggressive look that may also accommodate bigger brakes in the future.
The rims would be for trackday use but also road use (not that I drive much these days due to work !!)..
cheers
Chris

Re: Coloured Wheels
If you keep an open mind you can find great quality lightweight race rims cheap enough to easily afford professional painting in any colour your heart desires.

Re: Coloured Wheels
Ray's Gramlights come in fluro orange, yellow, Pink and maybe something else. Word of warning, the fluro colours (on rays atleast) only last 6 months before they fade, from what I've hear anyway.

Re: Coloured Wheels
For an NC personally I would go for something along the lines of a BBS RS and looooowwww
Start from there and add colour.. though depends on what color your car is?
A hint of colour..
Big colour
If you get wheels powdercoated by someone who knows what they are doing they wont fade. A friend of mine has Orange coated te37s done by Craved Coatings, they have been on the car for just over 3yrs now and they look as good as the day he got them.
I took my SSR MkIIs to Craved and had them done in Green. They look better than I could have hoped for. I also have a set of Glow-in-the-dark green nb8a 15"s that I painted myself, just for fun.
Get some colour and make the road a brighter place.
MINE.. and below, some stanceworks porn.

Re: Coloured Wheels
Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I also just had a look at the MX5 Spyder concept, it looks pretty ok with Advan wheels and Brembo brakes..hmmm.

Re: Coloured Wheels
Luckycat, great catching up with you and your Mrs after the drive yesterday.
Since you have a nice white pearl NC I applaud your interest in colour contrasting.
HJT has done a very interesting job with his wheels on his NB SP; check out his garage thread.
I just spotted these 'wheels' and like the different kind of approach. Although these actual wheels do not fit my car!
I have some 3-spoke wheels and this could be the approach for me. It gives the colour contrast but might look better than doing the whole wheel in a flouro colour.
I don't have photoshop on the laptop so can't show my wheels yet.

Re: Coloured Wheels
Chris, I buggered around with the pic of the 3 spoke wheel but couldn't get the centre tinted black, so here is my rough colourisation.
Can anyone do a circular crop of the wheel, tint the centre black or close to black, and paste it over a pic of any white MX5?
If possible, can you just photoshop the green rim onto Reggie's beautiful local NA Clubman? Since I don't have a decent side-on pic of mine.
or
otherwise:
Otherwise choose one you like from the CR thread:

PS. Chris, a unique colour on Enkeis would still look good, otherwise 6UL wheels id you can get them.

Re: Coloured Wheels
Cool. It was good to catch up with like-minded enthusiasts and I must say, what a drive !
Anyway back to wheels. I have have two projects running, one involving NC wheels, and the other.....something else ! So we shall see. Done quite a bit of looking around on the net...there are some wild ideas out there...including an MX5 with rainbow colours on the rims!
cheers
