D.I.Y. Chrome fuel filler door (NB)

Postby Silvia » Sun Jan 01, 2012 1:47 pm

I'd like to get my fuel filler door chromed or given an alloy look. Seems this would be better than buying the expensive new ones and then wasting my current one.
Anybody have experience doing this or have suggestions? I'm concerned painting it with chrome paint might not survive the proximity to petrol....

How long do you intend keeping the car?

If the filler door is just silver it will look silly, the chrome doors have a fake hex head outer ring to make them look more legit. Might be tricky to create the same effect without having anything sticking above the line of the car and looking naff.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I felt that at $80.00 for the item it would have been worth checking shipping, I purchased one for my partners NB from here last year as well as the one I have on my NC and from memory frieght was pretty good.
Greg.
Here is another link.http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/chrome-fuel-f ... p-153.html I have an account here and the landed cost for this item is $95.00.

Ditto
It's like having a replacement panel of a different colour; most people will think you couldn't be bothered colour-coding it instead of saying "oohh that looks good"

Ok, ok, guys....though I don't think the chrome cap would look that bad, the full shebang undeniably looks better
Thanks to Greg for pointing out the MX5 Parts special discount price....I've got a feeling I'm going to be getting one of those now....

Everytime I look at mine (Check my avatar) I smile, chrome stuff needs to look heavy.
