So 5 blokes are chatting in a pub about one of their project cars. A big V6 into a tiny girls car.

One man says, 'that will be sweet, almost as nice sounding as my old alfa', with a big grin.

To which another replies, 'No way mate, check out the 9 second 323 on youtube, nothing sounds like that, nothing!'.

A third man watching the conversation buts in calling person 2 an arsehole.

Relax mate.

never seen your pics but it just looks like a good spot for a charger.

you could run a rotrex. that way you could have an air to air intercooler (sans the illegal bit)

either way i am sure you will have fun with this swap.

Mmm, well I already have the MP90, but I'm definitely not going to fit any supercharger or turbo. I think the MX-5 should have an N/A engine.

Haven't managed to sell it yet. Are you going to do that design with the two T's and two 90's?

Dammit, long ass post didnt post!

Im waiting on a quote to have flanges laser/water cut. If I have to buy ten sets I might just build 4 or 5, 90-T-T-90 manifolds.
But how do you do the outlet nice? Rectangle tube, and a hole saw to cut a fish mouth, then a plasma cutter for the hole? Would be really hard to make that nice. Right?

My quoted prices are:
(all inch and a quarter)

Long radius 90-$2.80
Short radius 90-$3.95
Long radius 45-$2.50

Also, the ports are 45mm X 23mm. How do you weld the steampipe on? Heat and crush it oblong? Its soooo strong though... The pipe is inch and a quarter so its 32mm...

Dann the prices look good, I paid nearly twice as much for the 90's when I did mine.

I just squashed the pipe cold in a huge vice. It required heaps of pressure but got it close enough that with a bit of grinding it made a really good transition from flange to pipe. As far as welding goes it was just a standard corner weld around the pipe against the flange.

Oh I see lol.

I made all the flanges myself. Chain drilling, filing, and bandsawing. I wouldn't want to do it again, it's extremely boring. I also bought a downpipe flange in stainless from ebay but stopped going turbo before I made the rest of the downpipe.

Im going to build a full setup, post photos, run it, post a dyno sheet, then sell it. Rinse and repeat.

But us aussies are weak sauce when it comes to buying used turbo setups huh :P

What oil feed did you use and where did you get the fittings from?

It turned out that the IHI turbo had the same oil thread as the TD04 from the WRX, so I just bought the above feed line. I bought the drain line from Enzed.

You'll probably have more luck selling a full setup which is tested and working. I think that's what turns people off buying mine, even though it's basically complete except for the intercooler piping.

Sorry what I meant, is what feed from the engine did you use, the upper rear bolt on the passenger side of the block, or the rear passenger side of the head?
