hey guys,
car seems to have developed a rear end shaking, not sure if it's road or not but this was on the freeway. It didn't felt normal and car has been making rattling/loose stuff noise lately.
I will need to bring it to someone that knows for a check up.
Any recommendation around the western suburbs of Melbourne?
Don't mind spending a bit to get it done once and done properly.
cheers.
Phil

First step before taking it to any workshop.
Go to a tyre shop and get a wheel balance.
It's not expensive, and it's the most likely cause for vibrations at speed.
If that doesn't help, then it's maybe time to look at the more expensive possibilities.

yep, thanks for the advice.
Will be getting 4 new tyres and alignment done before bringing it to the shop

Re: shaking at 130km/h
These cars are quite sensitive to unbalanced wheels and tyres - the earlier the model MX5, the more sensitive. Vibration at speed can be a common complaint, but is most often related to wheel balance. All it can take is a small hit to a wheel or a flat spot on a tyre, and you're done for! It can take much frigging around to sort, requiring patient balancing by a tyre tech who is willing to try and solve the problem. It can be almost impossible with used tyres if they have worn unevenly.

The tyres are quite old, and lately cars been doing single wheel skids as soon as I jump off the clutch a bit, I reckon you guys are onto something.

It depends on the wheels too. Cheap blingy rubbish made in the back streets of Bangkok won't do.
