Dust really doesnt bother me, either does how fast they kill rotors, for the price of stock rotors on a 1.6 I couldnt care less if I need a new set every year.

Probably keen on either the hawk blues or the xp12,s.

I have Hawks HP Plus on my NA. Great on the track, but on the road, they squeal a lot (just ask anyone who went to Mugee trip).

Because Im comfy pulling anything apart on the car at home and have the tools, Im happy if the pads I buy can only be used at the track and need to be swapped over first thing in the morning at wakefield, and last thing before I drive home..

Sorry to disagree, but I think Hawk HP+ are pretty average overall on the braking front in the market, but on the value for money front they are very good. On other cars I have typically used Ferodo D3000/DS2500 - great pads, expensive and don't last long.

As usual, you get what you pay for.

Good enough for me.

I've used them for 1 1/2yrs now on the track and they've never faded on me (unlike the OEMs I had on the NA previously). During a speed of the street day @ Wakefield (I probably did 15-17 continuous laps each time before pitting) and it didn't fade once.

To me, it’s the best compromised between improved braking power vs. wear and tear on the brake disc (which more aggressive brake pads chew like bubble gum).

This is not always true, and usually occurs when pads are used outside their optimal temperature ranges.

I've run Hawk Blue for over two seasons now, ( > 20 sprint meetings and ~ 3000 track km) I have used up two sets of front pads and one set of rear pads. The front rotors are barely touched.

However, I ran the car to work a few times (200km round trip) with the rear blues still in there ( I changed the fronts out to std pads/rotors, but didnt have a spare set for the rear so left the hawks in) and there was significant rotor wear from this use.

So in my usage, the pads dont chew the rotors much at all if used at the temperature range that they work best at, and do chew the rotor if used cold, ala daily driving..

Mine squeal for the first few minutes then they're quiet. Odd that yours are so different?

re: performance of the HP Plus I've read that if you don't bed them in according to the directions performance can be substandard. I've never had any problems with mine. I can lock wheels easily and they haven't suffered fade.

More than likely yes you could get more aggressive pads but I don't think 'I' need more power unless my car was significantly faster and I was running significantly bigger rubber.

My car will brake a 1.3G with the HP+ in there. Very good pads and more than adequate.

They can out brake the ABS...

Time to dredge up an old thread...

What are people's thoughts about using HP plus pads predominantly on the street with some track work thrown in there? Seems there were only a few opinions on them previously in this specific application, so I'm curious to hear if there's been more feedback from people.

Been using them on my car that I still drive daily. They're rather dusty and were a bit noisy to start with. If you can live with the dust then they're great pads.

Yeah I don't see the point in running pads like that on a daily basis, if I'm going on track I just swap them back in. Hated driving to work and back seeing my wheels/paint covered in dust, got old quick.

I use HP+ on a daily. They've got about 80-90% of their full stopping power when cold, which still gives you something a fair bit better than OEM.

Before these I used Bendix Ultimates which produced about 4 times the dust and rotor wear and only 75% of the stopping power of HP+. I think most of the dust was actually iron powder from the rotors.
