Want a great sound, bore your cylinders and run lumpy large cams

I should make a clip of mine, I get a few compliments about it.

Sounds good, any photos?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Looks exactly like the SMB one you mentioned earlier (http://www.smb.net.au/mx5zone.htm) but in steel with a 350mm /14" x 2.25" Lukey Sports muffler.

No, she's still away....
Just the axle-back set up, bolt-on fabrication. I'm looking for great sound, not extra performance.... I'm finding the high compression engine has a lot of herbs.
I'm hearing a timing advance can make a big difference in this engine (2002, 95 RON version)

Re: Getting a better sound from a NB..
NB8's have a knock sensor and will advance the timing automagically, some people have artificially fooled the ECU into advancing the timing further by rotating the crank angle sensor (involves some dodgy cutting and drilling) but it's not the ticket to free grunt on the NB like it was for the NA.
Supreme Blue NB8B, 1:16.98 at Wakefield when stock, but it's not stock any more...

Caff, no need for the dodgy CAS mod any more, as there's COTS solution:

Re: Getting a better sound from a NB..
Best near-stock MX I've heard had a used Falcon V8 muffler installed.
BTW the knock sensor will retard the ignition when knock occurs. It will not advance it past the base map settings at other times. This is where an ignition timing mod helps, as there is usually a margin between the base map settings, the point of optimum power, and the point that knock occurs.
