17x9 look brilliant, but i can't stomach the defecting , illegality issues and is it possible to track with this tyre? what/is there a category for this size wheel ?

My RPF1s specs are: 17x7 +40 offset (Fr & Rr)
Hub rings specs are:OD=73mm / ID=67.1mm
Tyre specs are: Advan Neovas 205/45/17 (Fr & Rr)
I track with this tyre. They are capable of running consistent laps for full sessions at Wakey Park without fail. On the light weight MX-5, they feel like semis.
Mike
Just to add...anyone interested in a trade for the above combo against their stock rims and road-legal tyres? Cash my way, of course

NC MX5 BBS test fit 17x9 +40 225 45

Need some serious guard work, possibly flaring.

Dean - I have to say, those wheels, and your car look awesome...... 17x9 +40 is a bold move but you've pulled it off.
A stance to die for...... [Bows Gracefully]

Velly Noice but too edgy for me.
The last thing I'll want is some copper slapping a defect notice on me
So I went for the tame option of 17X8 et50 shod with 235/40 Toyos

Re: NC's Show Off Your Rims!
gmi and sailer - looking good!
Yeah it is a pretty aggressive setup, guard roller is on its way as well as a heat gun. Will get some camber dialed in as well and it should be fine. At the moment i cannot fit a finger between the inner guard and the wheels but yes they will fit ok with some work.
here is another photo, for some reason the angle makes the car look like it's sitting so high

The film on the rear lights looks great. Does it effect the indicators' colouring much or at all?

it does a little, the blinker lights are more red but still orange enough, the reverse light is more red so looks a little pink but I reckon it's worth it

I love your red tint, if your worried about your wheels from a defective point of view I wouldn't since your rear tinted lenses would be more of an obvious defect to a police officer.
I'm all for them, as i have dark tinted rear lenses, just stating the wheels wouldn't catch their eye, the lenses would.
Great choice, I love the bbs on the nc model, you would just need a mild roll and some camber and it would be fine.
