So did the Redline oil make a diff erence to the gearbox?
Which oil did you use?

The Redline oil did make a difference. Not sure if I covered it earlier in this garage thread but I was having difficulty shifting to 2nd when cold (in winter - the car is parked outdoors), and I had to double clutch, grit my teeth, and wince when it crunched and clunked into second.

Or I would just drive up the street in first...not pleasant for my neighbours since I leave home at 6.30am and have a loud exhaust.

Can't remember specifically which Redline oil Mania put in, but it was night and day. It's probably starting to degrade now as 2nd gear shifts when cold are starting to get just a touch clunky again.

Have you got a link to where you purchased the intake kit from?

I looked on http://www.works-engineering.com/ but cant see the kit.

What an eventful day! I've been waiting for the oil cooler and filter relocation kit to go in, and thanks to NitroDann...it's done!

Some of you would have seen the pics of the kit in the Christmas Pressies thread, but here's parts of the kit out of it's packaging. The relocation kit:

I have to say it's a really good quality kit. We had to go to Pit Crew to get a couple of extra fittings and they were quite impressed with the kit. To give you an idea, we bought a couple of Speed Flow fittings...I nearly choked at the price...$30-40 each! And we have similar quality fittings in the kit! The washers for example...yup, there's a seal there:

I chose to install the cooler in the firewall area (basically copying where Mania have it located in their race cars) as it was easy, close to where we wanted the filter located, and had a natural drop to the original filter position. Basically, neat and tidy, minimal hose run, no need to remove undertray or bumper.

For the price of this kit, nothing comes close. Sure the cast kits are cheaper but not as nice, and you can't beat the quality of these fittings. The closest in quality I've seen is the kit from the UK and it's still a barbed connection plus hose clamp...plus postage. Works Engineering had them beat on quality and in all cases, for the money.

Yeah...I don't know about the intake now. The carbon one is soooo nice. Will you be at MB tomorrow? I can drop by and show you if you like.

I don't think I'll put it in now so will probably sell it off.

Thanks Paul! I really like it, and am stoked about the quality of the stuff. I'd seen it before, and had a couple of things from Works Engineering previously (including cam gears which I couldn't fit to my car :roll: ) but this and the steering quick release just blew my mind.

It was quite hard getting their stuff as they kept selling out, so in the end I just bought a bunch of things.

Yeah, all the stuff I've seen is really impressive in quality - especially for the price. And those quick releases are just too much fun. :mrgreen: I'm half considering getting one for the GT. :lol:

Thanks for posting this, I'm looking to install an oil cooler + filter relocation kit and was looking at the Thompson kit which is almost impossible to get at times (historically they make them in limited quantities and once they run out, they seem to only make another batch if there are a lot of pre-orders) and its fittings are known to be a pain to fit.

The quality of the Works Engineering cooler and fittings was a concern for me, you can't tell from pictures alone and need to actually see the kit in real life to judge it properly.

I plan on mounting mine behind the driver-side fog light - we don't need fog lights in Brisbane!

Hi Simon,

A few of the guys here have seen it so they can pass their comments. As for you seeing the kit in real life...unfortunately that's going to apply to pretty much everything we buy via some electronic channel!

NitroDann helped me with the install and we took it to Pit Crew who race Speedway cars as I wanted a couple of different fittings due to where it was being mounted. Their view was that the Works Engineering kit was it was of good quality.

It's all bolt it and everything you need is provided - in fact there are quite a few extras which provided some initial confusion, but after we figured it out, it is dead easy. The blank for the oil filter relocation just turns in, the hoses connect, you choose where you want the cooler and filter relocated, lead the hoses, screw it all in, and that's it.

You can see I mounted the filter against the strut bar.

I did have some trouble getting the kit for myself. Long story as I wanted a few other things - wheels, quick release, intake - and they sell out really quickly. In the end, I placed an order for multiples of various items and got it all shipped in.

I've dríven the car about 600 kms in the last few days and have not had leaks from the fittings. I've noticed some fogging under the windscreen wiper due to the cooler location, but the fogging only appears when I'm stopped at the lights and it remains under the wiper so doesn't affect my vision.

We did not have to use any sealant, and there is only a bit of teflon tape used on the little plugs where the guage sensors will plug in.
