Turret oil...

Postby Silvia » Tue Nov 22, 2011 7:30 pm

I'm having the "2nd gear crunch when cold" issue in my just-bought 2002 NB Series 3 .
Did I read somewhere that this model no longer uses turret oil in the shifter? It would be one less thing to work on in trying to fix the problem.....
The steps seem to be - adjuster on the clutch rod is out ,or pushing left more on the gearstick, or examining clutch slave cylinder, or cup at bottom of gear ? Is this correct?
Is there an expert in S.E. Qld who can look and advise on the best course of action?

Best GB result I've heard of is this recent one:

6 speed GB turret shares trans oil with rest of box, & so doesn't require separate filling like 5 speed.

Well yes & no - yes one less consideration in relation to the 1st to 2nd cold change notchiness or crunch, but then 5 speed is probably considered by more owners to have a better feel to gear changes than the 6 speed.

Indeed, they are in SE QLD (Brisbane suburbs) & MX5 specialists.
