I was reading somewhere on this forum that the plug under the driver seat is for the seatbelt sensor.
I was wondering if it is safe to unplug it and wire in some footwell lights instead, the footwell lights will also be wired to the interior light ie on when the doors are open.
I know some cars actually had the airbags connected to the seats as well ie my old 6, which means incorrect removing = trip to the dealer
Also, the beep is f***ing annoying =_=
Forgot to mention, I have an nb8b

Re: Wiring plug beneath driver seat
Emily had a very smart solution to wiring up her footwell lights. See her thread in Garage Chat.

Re: Wiring plug beneath driver seat
hmmm, I don't have the interior lights under the dash board.
maybe I can find the wire for the central locking, my old 6 used to light up when central locking was pressed, maybe I can work out how to do that in my mx as well

Re: Wiring plug beneath driver seat
Emily wired hers to the little pressure / contact switch on the door sill, so whenever the door opened, her LEDs would light up the footwell.

Re: Wiring plug beneath driver seat
lol funny that, I just thought of that just then as I was cleaning a stain out of my passenger seat. noticed the door momentary switch, which I could work with, assuming the wire runs the length of the door sill, I might even be able to tap into it somewhere closer to the footwell. I'll have a look at it next week when I have more free time.
