JVC and Kenwood merge

Postby Benny » Fri Nov 11, 2011 1:47 pm

Just heard from one of my customers that JVC and Kenwood have now merged into one company.

Eventually, Kenwood here in OZ will take over the importing and distribution of all of the JVC product range and the bigwigs from Japan are already here to get the ball rolling.
I feel a bit sorry for JVC's current Oz distributors as they have been handling JVC for decades and I would imagine htat jobs there will be rolling out the door.

What this means to their 2 seperate car stereo bussinesses is unknown at this stage, but I would imagine that one name will be dropped at the expense of the other.

At the moment I can confirm that they will still be selling both names in Australia under the same agent, no idea how it will work but my rep told me that 90% of stores only stock one or the other so their will be no problems, what this means for the other 10% I have no clue.

We sell both kenwood and JVC. Only like one product from either company.

Oh my, poor JVC...being associated with the Kenwood name. JVC isn't mindblowing stuff, but some of it is at least decent. Kenwood on the other hand...
