Fuel pump priming but no fuel to cylinders?

Postby spikes » Tue Nov 08, 2011 10:04 am

Last night, I started putting my car back together after changing the front cam seals and front main seal. I also had the throttle body off for a new intake manifold gasket and a quick clean throughout.

Re-installed everything, timing belt all set with the I and E pointing at the Y shape imprint on the black plate which bolts onto the head against TDC.

I was working on it yesterday in the early hours of the night/morning so I was tired and think I could have missed something..

Anywho, throttle body went back on, all nuts done up, all connections plugged back in. Double checked it a few times and again this morning after a good sleep.

My problem is I'm getting spark, the fuel pump is priming and there is fuel going to the fuel rail. I think my issue lies somewhere around the fuel injectors as the cylinders aren't getting any fuel and the spark plugs are dry.

Also the AFM is plugged in. What else can I check/double check and could there be something wrong for not getting fuel?

just dry cranks no stumbles? Try some fuel or aero start down the plug hole and see if it stumbles atleast. Stock ecu ect?

Also get a timing light and check the timing of the spark. I'd you're getting spark, but the timing is say 180 out from the cas going in wrong that could be the issue.

Yeah, with anything technical, always make sure not to work when you're hungry, angry, in a rush, need to pee, thirsty or with poor lighting.

god dammit, hoses are on the right way, now cylinders are definitely getting fuel and spark but won't fire over, not even a stumble or cough!??

Checked timing with a timing light? Could be sparking but at the wrong time.

Beg, borrow, steal or purchase then!

Old systems you could use any test bulb on the points. Not sure if you can do that with ecu controlled ignition.

IF, it's easy try taking the cam angle sensor out and rotating it around 180, just mark your start point first. Not much point if you're fairly sure of your position being the same a before the work.

I think timing could be off, from taking the timing belt off and didn't put it back together properly. I'll check that again tonight before I start pulling stuff off which I never touched in the first place.

Can the fuel hoses being on the wrong way, which lead to pumping fuel through the wrong direction of the fuel pressure regulator could have damaged it?

Here's my problem

Good one

And the inside of the cam gear

Looks like I forgotten to tighten up the intake cam gear, and when I cranked the motor over, the gear slipped and spun a couple of full revolutions around locating pin.

Metal shavings everywhere.
