MONSTEROUS RACE CAMS

Postby NitroDann » Mon Oct 24, 2011 10:06 pm

Now Ive got everyones attention, Who do I ask about B6 atmo development. Ive been considering going to some silly big cams, and then actually paying for some dyno time before I turbo my car, but still a while away... Unlike me I know.

I have all of the support hardware, minus a bit of compression, but Ill live for now.

Who around here has built a B6 with silly cams?

I have all the supporting bits so I was thinking just for shits and giggles id go huge.

Silly huge.

Over 300 huge.

Thata what I want to know about. Im at 10.5:1, and on E85 honestly, I really should step the compression up to 14ish... Ill have to call tighe in the morning. Ill PM TBRO. Thanks.

Anyone else?

What rob said is correct I agree, what rob forgets is that my girlfriend learns to drive in it and I take it to work everyday.

As my dad said to me when asked why he was teaching me to drive in bucket of sh*t Leyland P76, he replied "if you can learn to drive this thing, you will be able to drive anything!".

You can try and find Integral Cams over in the US, but their website disappeared a year or so ago. From memory they had heaps of profiles, some being quite aggressive.

Just wondering why you'd go that much in duration with a forced induction ?? - to me, that kinda goes counter to what would be happening when air is being forced vs what you'd need to do if it was sucked (aka N/A) :?

Lift I understand, I'm just not sure where huge/massive duration helps in a turbo with that back pressure, fuel rushing past into the turbo housing etc... especially the reason you add duration for a N/A is to help with exhaust exit helping draw in a fresh charge - not need in F/I yeah :?

I'm not sure dann intend to keep the "huge" cams once turbo goes on as he has his existing "large" cams for that.

I'm guessing he's going to do some NA development till he's off his P's. But i'm just guessing.....

Actually I was thinking of running this engine atmo for a while and just enjoy racing it, while building a full turbo setup on a stock engine for practice. The P plates thing doesnt bother me, honestly, my car is so far past legal it isnt funny already. But yes, my other cams are very well suited to a turbo application.
