Fitting front Garage Vary lip on NA8

guys

i ve finally installed it by bit of violence but everything alright
what i've done is to use a bit of force to put two sides bolts in
then drilled 5 holes in the middle and put on bolts

the kind of trick i ve done was,
i took both sides lower bumper support off
I didn't know why i felt easier with them off but anyways,I ve done it and happy with the result !

Will be a little while longer before I can tell you how this goes haha. Sorry, I've not forgotten. you've probably solved this a long time ago now. Due to a shipping error, the place got oem ones sent to them instead of gv... So it'll be another week and a half

Sorry for necroing, but for those of you who installed, what size drill bit did you use? I bought the Touge Run imitation one, and that came with self-tapping screws

Well it took me and my GF 30 mins to install. Being a plumber i disregarded the screews that came with it and used 1/8th rivets (20mm long) with large washers each side to spread the load. my lip was a bit out of shape but as the manufacturer mentioned, 'its a very flexible material so you need to form it to your bumpers shape when installing.' I also did the outsides first then the middle and so on.

If in doubt to what hole to drill, then go to an auto shop with the screw/bolt and ask. failing that you could always google a drill sizing chart

Ok, I put the TougeRun lip on and it looks great! But there's an issues that nags me. The edges at the very end protude out because it just doesn't conform to the bumper 100%, is is supposed to be like this or was this an installation error? It only comes out maybe 5mm

with self tapping screws the guide to hole size is hold up the screw and a bit and look at the root diameter of the s/t and the od of the bit- ie hold the bit parallel and compare. The bit has to be "slightly" more than the root diameter but definitely less than the thread od. The s/t taps in to the material displacing soft materials easily but less so with dense materials- a dense material sometimes requires a fraction up. The trick is always err on the smaller size not the larger - you cannot put material back sometimes forcing the the need for a larger s/t. There are drill size recommendations for all s/t eg 6 8 or 10 gauge but using the visual check and having a few drill bits works fine.

Thanks! I thought it was really dodgy because it's actually protuding out from the bumper edge. The pictures I see (obviously not this close up) all show it pretty flush.

I didn't use the self-tapping screws. I went to bunnings and bought 10 M4 bolts, some suitable washers and 10 wingnuts. Then lined it up with a 4mm drill and then it was bolt, washer, washer, wingnut. There were 14 holes, but I found that the very extreme two holes didn't line up to anything. The original bolt that connects to the small bumper strengthening bar actually lined up to the 2nd holes from the end. I had to expand the hole a bit to fit the M6 bolt through.
