Appears you took the scenic route complete with gravel road, nice.

"Scenic" definitely describes the route. 2.5 hours out, 7.5 hours back :)
The return trip did include an hour's walk to the Stevenson Falls, via gravel and mud, and a lunch break at the Forrest Country Guesthouse, which served us some rather delicious fish.
and a wash, polish, claybar and wax when I got home. Boy did she need that. Lots of mud, dust and stuff (Tm) came off the panels.

Thanks again to everyone that planned and executed a brilliant day, as a first timer this was well and truly the best run I have ever been on, was great to be able to put faces to names!

Thanks to all that showed, esp considering the weather! If I wasn't organising it, I probably would have hit the snooze button too ...

After 5 years of running it I would LOVE to see 100 cars there in 2012 - not for the ego but the challenge & thrill of it ... so c'mon one & all - keep the rain away & tell your mates to get involved!

Many thanks to the inter-staters from Adelaide & Queensland, also the guy from Canada. I hope the weather didn't put you off to much & come back next year for some blue skies.

Also thanks to all who got up so early to come over from the other side of Melb & beyond to drive this great road.

See you in 2012 all, Joni & Chris

PS As per usual any suggestions to improve are most welcome. Also, can I please have some feedback on the new starting point of BP @ Little River versus KFC @ Westgate. Ta x

Oh & also the Rotary Club @ Apollo Bay have suggested that they could put on a breakfast BBQ for us instead of going to the Cafes, What do you think of that? Give your Breakfast dollars to charity for egg & bacon rolls!~ Joni

Agree, a BBQ would make an excellent meeting point at the end of the run and promote a social atmosphere.
Those who want to go their own way can still do so.

Agree. Otherwise most ppl stick to there own and the newbies feel left out, maybe even do a group photo at the end...

Great run as usual Joni and the starting point was perfect

I reckon a local club putting on a breakfast BBQ is great idea......confirming numbers will be the challenge.

Be great to support a local group.

If this doesn't work, i do know the owner of the Apollo Bay Hotel, and i reckon he would do a cracker breakfast deal for us.

Great. We liked the new start point too as clean, hot food, toilets & plenty of parking...

I'll follow up with the breakfast BBQ and/or Apollo Bay Hotel owner for b/fast there -thanks :) . We used to have a set place "Great Ocean Rd Deli"and this is the first year they had closed down - so everyone spread more than usual. I was also thinking that with no known numbers for the BBQ but I reckon if we got 50 cars on such a crappy weather day, then we can count on that as a minimum - if they run out then there's always the cafes as a back up.

Ill also talk to John G from Ballarat group re: change of Geelong pick up as he brings the majority of that pick up point from the Western plains area. It would be good for them to have a coffee spot too (rather than a carpark) but then again when the Geelong ring rd goes straight over the top, this may also change things down there.

Thanks for your suggestions and as ever - look forward to riding with you all next year :D Fingers crossed for sunny weather x

Joni & Chris
