GMI's 08 NC1
The story before the MX5
First car i owned was bought by my parents off an auntie going back overseas; back then i've always wanted a Honda. Mainly because all my friends had either DC2/5Rs, accord EUROS and S2000s.
After the completion of my HSC, and successfully acquiring a P1 license i saw this on my driveway.
BMW E46 2.2L coupe
My parents were always concerned that i will modify my car, so a BMW would mean big money to modify which i don't have. Only thing i've ever put in it was the angel eyes.
This is when i started to love the rear wheel drive, and 2 door cars. When the KMS started to get higher (from 45000kms) Dad sold the car and got another BMW.
118i manual.
This car was... fuel efficient.. thats about all i can say. But really suited my purpose at the time.
During the e46 and 118i, my friend wasn't using his AP1 S2000.. so i had the chance to "kind of" own it.
This is when i really fell in love with 2 door, 2 seats. Roadster.
I know many people have dríven S2000s, but immaculate ones under 40000kms with no accident history was rare. This is when i started my "hunt".
During highschool and uni, i've always been working to one day buy my own car and not rely on my parents. A car that i truly wanted and loved; a S2000. Looking at my piggy bank, i realised i was ready. 3 months of comparing and looking, luck was not on my side.
Coming home one day in my Red tomato, i saw my neighbour and had a chat to him and realized he had a NC hardtop MX5 in his garage which i never saw before. 08 Delivered PRHT in stormy blue with 9000kms on the clock. It was for sale. With no hesitation, i bought the car on the day. Went to Chatswood RTA 5 minutes before they closed. That day must of been one of the happiest days of my life.

The MX5 is definitely a "fast" car, not necessarily down the straights but everything else. Only word i can think of when i sit in it, is love.
The NC came stock standard with the Bose and leather. In the 7 months or so of owning the vehicle i have lightly modified it.
- Eibach pro kit springs
- Eibach front and rear adjustable sways
- RAYS volk racing time attack CE28N rims in 17x7.5 +50offset
- HKS racing suction intake
- Cusco oil catch can
- Sparco Ultra bucket seat
- 4300K HIDs
The first person i met up with was Guy_Coles because i thought his NOPRO carbon lip looked amazing.
The price of it, was even more amazing. So Guy will still be the only person in Australia "maybe" with this lip.
After that i've attended some mini-meets and the breakfast run to Blue mountains.
1 Month ago i joined the MX5 Club and attended my first track day at wakefield park with CharlieBrown showing me how to drive properly. Great day and very well organized!
On its way, Tein Flex and chassis braces! More track time and meet ups!! Summer is coming

I'm warming to the look of NC1's with a bit of low and the right wheels. This one is definitely done right.

Re: GMI's 08 NC1
I hope the AUD climbs.. ): and
I'm open to suggestions and negative comments on mods. Haha, my friend says my seat looks cheap with just one. And the Hks intake is not worth the money ... Oh well, wanted the AEM cold air intake that goes all the way down, but as a daily.. And the weather being "bad" randomly, I really didn't want to risk going into a fat puddle ): ~
Kris u should check out the cusco oil catch can. Oh it's so bling does very little though :p

Re: GMI's 08 NC1
Ok.. * the comment below is my own personal opinion *
Many people will find s2000s lack low down torque. But for me, I love it how it stretches to 9 grand. Very fun!!! And vtec is truly sensational.
Handling I gotta say the s2000 is more precise.. Well feels that way but the nc is more refined and feels as if you can carve a corner at any speed :p I think because of it's weight advantage.
The reason why I got the Hks intake was first it improved throttle response (feels that way), and second when it reaches 3k the sound is like vtec kicking in
But overall I like the nc a tiny bit more and it really grew on me. Most nc owners are more considerate on the road compared to s2k. And you dont have every modified car trying to race you and pressure you on the street.
The price of nc's are also a lot cheaper. And taken good care of

Interesting view. You should drive my NA, it has a slight weight advantage and also stretches to 9k.

Yeh. Your car pulls really hard. Did the hardtop with no rear window help? :p looks good though. Should consider using ur ssr as track rims?
