Hi, looking to turbo my mx5 and wondered about using a 323 gtx turbo manifold. Has anyone done this? Any input welcome.

It may well fit onto the engine, but remember the 323 was a transverse layout, not longitudinal.

So you may find the manifold and/or turbo will either hit the frame, or point the wrong way.

Yep, IF it fits (and that's a big "IF"), then you would also probably need to make a custom DP unless you could adapt an existing kit DP or something.

Not worth doing. Just get one made for an MX-5 to begin with..

A basic steampipe log manifold OEM style is pretty cheap. How soon do you want one? Ill be making a few soon.

No rush for one, Just looking at options and I want to start collecting stuff so that when I start building it will be a quick job (ha!) It would be good to get one off someone so willing to help others with advice n such. So two questions, are you willing to ship to NZ and what sort of price?

I have an engine out of a 323 GTX in my car (a BPT). You can't use the exhaust manifold as it faces the wrong way, and also interferes on the structure. I had a custom exhaust manifold done. I used the 323 intake manifold though, which also faces the wrong way, but I got it welded up to face in the correct direction. Works well, although definitely easier to fit an mx5 intake manifold if you can find one.

The GTX exhaust manifold wont work in an MX5.
There are plenty of good exhaust manifolds available for reasonable prices, and if it were me, I'd be opting for a tried and tested brand like the AVO, FM, Greddy etc. They are generally bugger all more expensive (for just a manifold) and have proven their ability to function for a very long time trouble free, they are also generally designed to work perfectly with the rest of the engine/car particularly heat managment which is hard to get right in an MX5 (ask anyone who has ever built a high powered turbo MX5).

It's not uncommon to even see them pop up second hand if you look in the right places.

Do it right the first time, you'll appreciate the quality and trouble free driving for years after you've forgotten the few extra dollars.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.
