What exactly is the problem with that?
I guess what I'm really asking is there some danger I fail to understand.

Do a search on here and the big forum about the associated problems of using a non vented lead-acid battery in the boot of a MX5 and have a read about the fumes created when a battery charges.
Consequences are corrosion in the boot or the possibility of explosion.
