Starting to get hot, some white smoke?

Just a Quick question,

My engine temp gauge after an hour of driving is starting to get close to the H I have replaced the thermostat with a genuine mazda one thinking i could start there. I noticed when it was hot the fan hadn't kicked in after a bit of percussive maintenance the fan started, though IMO the speed was not enough and seemed to increase a bit more with some more percussive maintenance. So my gut feel is I need a new Fan? I am starting to feel some clutch slip but am presuming this is related to over heating?

On a side note ever since I did an oil/filter change last saturday the car has been blowing white smoke on cold start goes away after a Minute or so is this something I should worry about?

Clutch is not heat related.

Overheating is not the fans fault unless its overheating in stop start traffic.

90% chance white steam on startup is just this recent weather.

I think the clutch is getting worn

it is stop start traffic that the heat start getting out of control.

Check your oil cap and dipstick...is the oil all milky and white?

Check your coolant...dip your finger in it and then rub your fingers together, does it dry up quickly or does it feel oily and like you are just spreading it around?

These things will tell you if your head gasket has failed.

When your car is up to temperature is the radiator the same temperature top and bottom? If it is hot at the top and cold at the bottom there may be a blockage.

Fix/replace your fan(s). From your description in the first post, at least one of them is knackered.

Is your radiator overflow bottle getting pretty full, or even overflowing, immediately after you've stopped driving? If so, then the thermostat might be stuck closed. Just because you've replaced it, it doesn't mean it's working properly.

Re temperature gauge, just like most others, once the needle starts going past the "normal" position then you've got a problem.

You said after an hour the needle gets close to the "H", when does it start moving past the normal position?

If you have a grille, remove it.
If you don't have a radiator air-redirection plate, install one.

Just a Quick FYI for those interested it was the radiator fan was failing intermittently replaced it with a NA8 Fan courtesy of Adpatronics working Flawlessly now no more heat issues.
