Who said it took 6-12 months? My Work's only took 3 months to get delivered from the time of ordering (and I ordered them in like November - Right before Christmas so it took even longer). Yeah they are more expensive but I honestly think it is worth it. At least with lots of these JDM/etc manufactures you are able to specify (with most wheels) exactly what width, diameter, offset, disk type (if you have large brakes or whatever) and color you want and you are fairly confident everything will be built well. Being able to have your wheels built to your own specification is VERY helpful (for me anyway) because I spent a bit of time measuring everything up so I can have the exact fitment I want. With cheaper brands its kind of like you get a choice of 4 or so different width/offset combinations (most of which are pretty crappy anyway) and that is all...

In summary just order the wheels (I ordered mine through JDM Concept) - It is worth the wait :D

Are you saying that your Work rims are custom made?

I would have thought that Work manufactures a number of "models" and it's a matter of whether or not your requirements fit.

I'd say they were custom made. I provided them with a width (to the half inch), offset (to the mm), diameter and stud pattern. I was even able to say "no I don't have a big break setup so I would rather the O-Disk setup for more dish". They have all their models, you just have to give them the sizing and then they will make that model of wheel to your specification (unlike Rota for example where you get a few different sizes to pick from). If Rota make what size you are after though then go for it  I opted for the custom sizing though because there weren't too many 15x7.5 rims floating around (the widest I can legally go in QLD).

Seeing as you can only go 1" wider than standard track what offset are you running? +50 or something.
Rotas come in lots of offsets +30-35-40-45. Not in 7.5 inch tho

I surprised a company would make a one-off one piece (I assume that's what you have) forged rim for what I'd assume to be similar price for their other "standard" sizes.

A friend had rims made to his specs but they were 3 piece, and the cost of that made my eyes water!

Rule for QLD is 1.3x the standard width isn't it? Which would be 7.8 wide for an NA8? Yeah... I kind of ignored the rules about track width though (+17) :P

Apu - My bad (maybe I misread something somewhere), I was referring to 2/3 piece wheels. It isn't really that expensive compared to prices from SSR, Watanabe, Hayashi, Rays, etc etc. I paid $550 per wheel to have them made by Work - about as much as 1 piece 15" wheels from Watanabe.

You are correct though, the 1 piece rims from JDM manufacturers only come in a few set sizes (there are however stories of customised TE37's for example being made if someone is wealthy enough/enough people are willing to pay).

I think that if you find the wheel you want, even if you have to wait for them to turn up you're not going to like them any less when they arrive, and I know you've been after something dead cool for a while... whats a while longer if its exactly what you want?

Are you really going to be defected on certain wheel specs if you're not making yourself standout with other obvious illegalities? 7Hazi's wheels look damn fine but even if they're technically not legal its not really extreme enough to draw adverse attention I'd say.

I found it in the mods guide, but as it states, it can not be used "'as a reference to a point of law".

If someone can point out where it is in the current code of practise. I can find it in the NCoP which states 7.5" is the max for a 5, but if it isnt referenced in the current one being used (written in the 90's), it would be easy to agrue a defect for incorrect rim width.

This is exactly right - I have been daily driving on these rims (with 205/50's) for about a year and a half now and am yet to have a defect. (thanks for the compliment aswell )

There is no restrictions on wheel width in Queensland.

Apparently you can't go more than 1" wider than track though. Having said that I'm running 15X7+30 which is about 2" wider than track

I did not mention wheel track, I mentioned wheel width.

1.3x rule is for tyre width.

I would suggest reading the pdf I made reference to. It is all written in plain simple english. It will take out the guessing games that everyone seems to be playing.

Which pdf?
You mean this one?

The above is the one I am talking about - it cant be used as a reference from a point of law.
