Installing A/C

Did a couple searches didnt find much.

Basically im gonna add a/c to my NB8B
Okay well .. in my general knowledge an a/c consists of these things + ofcourse buttons / some wiring to be able to turn the thing off/on

Compressor $650
Condenser $250
Gas $60
Belt $60
Cant seem to find those rails... that lead into the compressor.

Am i on the right track. these are the prices ive gathered (just prices 2nd hand... havent bought them plan to buy slowly). Labour im hoping to do most of the work myself cant be to hard probably get the compressor put in by a mechanic don't want any hiccups with that.

Do i need to add anything else to my list?

There's probably an NB8 or may be NA8 AC system still for sale in old posts & usually they go for way less than half of your costings. Following gives you a better idea of AC system components:

And when you do install it, get it charged with HyChill HR12
I've been using it for years and it's a far better product than any of the normal refrigerants, cooling better and putting less strain on the compressor.
You can do it yourself if you have access to a vacuum pump to evacuate the system for charging

Which reminds me, reason I didn't mention the NA6 AC system was that it originally used R12 refridgerant as opposed to the NA8 & later systems which used R134a, so a bit more involved:

Would the NA8 system even fit myn?

There are a few differences im sure rails location is differebt abd probably condensor size

HyChill is compatible with all systems. No need to overhaul or convert unless you have a leak
so you may be able to buy an old system which most would consider needs conversion to R134A

Yeh i know the gas is compatible even if it wasnt u can play around n make it so im talking about parts

Can't say for sure, but major components are probably the same, although could be some routing differences.

you will probably find the whole shooting match a new unit supplied and fitted is going to cost about $2000. Alternatively buying a complete system from a wrecker is a proposition and then get it installed by a pro. If you buy a system privately you may get no guarantees at all and no come back whereas a wrecker can sometimes be more amenable. As a ball park if it was do-able for $1000 or a bit more that might be reasonable.
