Where to buy mufflers?

Postby NitroDann » Sun Sep 18, 2011 11:09 pm

Anyone have a good lead, perhaps somewhere on the interwebs, to buy mufflers and exhaust components?

Im looking and it seems I cannot find many race mufflers. Lots of mufflers with exhaust tips on them, but I mean just the muffler, so I can weld pipes both ends of it.

Thanks,
Dann

My method is find no more than 3 brand names and trawl eBay everywhere, here, US, UK to compare prices and shipping. Try to find specific part names and/or numbers.
About a year ago I bought a big brand name muffler, made in the US, from an Australian eBay store for a price (inclusive of shipping) that is cheaper than what someone in the US can buy locally.
Magnaflow, Cherry Bomb, Flowmaster are a few names I can suggest for a diverse range.

Summitracing and Jegs have good shipping rates.

Local exhaust shops are commonly stocking "Super Cat" mufflers that look pretty decent, but people are put off by them thinking that due to their low price, it equals low quality.

As for exhaust components, ie. pipes of different sizes, metallurgy and bends, I stumbled on Mandrel Bending Solutions (eBay US) by accident just yesterday.

Thanks red, thats a great start.

Its the magnaflow stuff I was mainly looking for.

Also, mandrel bends, is there a good place this side of ebay? I like doing lobsterback stuff but its expensive on gas when TIGing.

Thanks,

Magnaflow is the largest manufacturer of mufflers & exhaust so price competition dictated by supply & demand should be rife.

The tracks you visit probably don't have any sound restrictions, but I found this the other day when I was bored:
quad muffler

I enjoy stumbling over new things on the internets :)
