What do you think of the new exhaust (basically just a rear muffler delete, totally reversible)? I think it's a bit too loud, lol.

Very nice, and loud, note you've got there... but your poor neighbors!! =)

Ah, they're pretty good neighbours :D. That was only taken at about 6pm. Since then I've added a pair of flanges to the exhaust so I can block it off. This pic shows what I mean:

With that aluminium plate between the flanges the exhaust is back to stock, and I think I'll leave it that way :NA6:

 Sweet Jesus..... Hater's gonna hate.......

Nice thought on the exhaust system. just thinking that you could have got your exhaust shop to make a custom tailpipe with a sports muffler in a bolt-on/off configuration or something.

Not attacking you or anything.

 The plan is for a whole new exhaust system from the head back so I wasn't really worried about ruining the stock system. I know it looks like arse but it was just a bit of fun. I was bored one afternoon and that's what I came up with. It really is too loud though, I don't think I'll unblock it again.

I could make a butterfly valve to go between the flanges and have a switch to open it from inside the car, but it's so loud I don't think I'll bother.

NB front brake upgrade :D

Old

New

The previous owner of the calipers painted them silver, which is good because they don't stand out under the standard wheels :D

The front rotors that I had were warped so I needed new ones anyway, and I thought a brake upgrade would be a good idea before chasing a bit more power.

I also bought an 8-ball and made a new gear knob. It feels much better than stock :) and the best part is it's a completely reversible mod :)

And my momo prototipo wheel which my uncle gave to me. He bought it new in the 70's :)

I had a silver one like that that Dad bought in the 70's. He had the leather re done and gave it to me for my 19th. It was in my Type R when the car was stolen :(

Aww that sucks, I really like the wheel. It suits the car and is a good size.

Over the last couple of days I made a simple log manifold to mount the TD04L turbo I have. I bought the turbo to use in my race car project but I'm going supercharger instead, so the turbo goes on the MX . I'm not aiming for big power, around 100rwkw would be perfect so this manifold should do the trick. If not, it only cost me $30 :)

Does anyone know what I'll have to do to get the car engineered in NSW? Any recommended engineers?
Also I'm not sure where to run the intercooler piping. I want to keep A/C and power steering. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Andrew

Yes, pretty happy with how it turned out for a first attempt. I bought the bends from EDCON steel and I had a random piece of pipe in the garage for the rest of it.

Where did you get your head flange?

Made it :) 8mm steel plate, drill press, angle grinder, files, lots of time. I also made the turbo flange. This is how I made the whole manifold for less than $30 8) I'm stuch a cheapskate. Tomorrow I'll get some bolts and some more steel to make the down pipe.

MIG welded, but I'm not very good at it yet. Probably would have done a better job with the stick welder  Having a welder sure opens up a whole lot more stuff you can make for the car.

Awesome, Im going to make a heap of them in the coming months.
You havent tested it yet?
What did you use to make the exhaust ports oval, on the pipe I mean, Just in a vice until it was close? Or a better way?

Cheers

I just used a vice and got it pretty close. If I had a decent die grinder I could tidy up the pipes but they should be OK for the power I want. If I was going to mass produce them I'd try to make some sort of die to use in a press.

I haven't tested it yet. I still need to hook up the oil and water lines, fab the down pipe, intercooler piping and mounts, variable TPS, and wire in the Adaptronic ECU.

Cheers,
Andrew

I plan on making a vice mounted die.

What size buttweld fittings? 1.25'?

For oil feed, are you using the rear passenger side of the head?

I think they were 1.25 or 30mm fittings.

I didn't know there was an oil feed on the rear passenger side of the head. Do you have a pic of where it is? Or can you describe it? I was going to use the one on the passenger side of the block near where the dipstick goes in.

Cheers,
Andrew

Its in the back of the head, passenger side, but its not really doable with the engine in.
Just use the regular one as you were saying.
