Looking forward to seeing more.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Nice job on Emma's car I bet she was wrapt.......is this one going to be Melissa's
That would be the only way I could get my kids to help me with the car, if the car was for them I suppose they are pretty tide up with assignments all the time though.
Really nice job BB
Cheers

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
windscreen in the process of making up prior to the primer. first off grease/wax remover to clean the rubber. once dry the daughter applies 6mm wide fine line masking tape. i always use this to stop paint bleed and the results give a fine edge
following the application of the fine line tape i run a 3/4 inch bear brand or a better quality masking tape. stay away from the crap from bunnings.go to a auto outlet paint supplies after that i attach the masking paper
door edges wax and rease remover applied first - then a litre of water with a bit of washing up detergent and norton wet/dry sandpaper. why norton - as far as i'm concerned it better quality and does a better job
interior of the mx5 masked up to avoid paint drift
primed door
opposite side prior to the primer
inside of doors masked up
door primed
yes. in case you were wondering - underneath too
end results

That was my first thought too. Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I remove anything that can scratch my car before working on it, including my belt.
Man this is a LOT of work.
What colour did you decide on or are you going to make us all wait?

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
username - the compressor is a 3hp. bit slow with a siphon feed gun but it's great with the hvlp gravity fed gun
lokiel - if i reveal the colour now it's hardly worth coming back etc for a look at the end results as the surprise is gone.
not worried about her bling on the car. i'm just about sitting on the metal any way so it's just a quick fix. if i was on the colour that's another story.
bit more concerned about this. i've enveloped and labeled the screws /bolts/nuts etc - but i sure have some floating about. i bet i will even have some left over
only mark on the car was this.
now it's sanded, primed and hit with wipe putty
