So now the next question is what to do for wheels and tyres? I've currently got relatively worn RE001's on the 14x7 RPF1's and completely shagged AO32's on stock NA6 wheels. Do I find a new set of semis to throw in the stock wheels; or find a new set of semis to throw on the RPF1's and get some street tyres for the stock wheels/buy new street wheels; or keep street tyres on the RPF1's and find a set of 15's and put semis on them?

Basically, pros and cons of 15" vs 14" semis?

Alternatively, you can try Dunlop Star Specs on 14s or 15s as both a street and track tyre. If you're not happy with them as Wakefield track tyres they'll still be a very good choice for hillclimbs and street. Am I right in saying Stuart did a 1:13.something on old Star Specs on 14x7 RPF1s last weekend?

I've entered for Fairbairn Park for the 25th. I'll run on 195/50r15 Star Specs there, so we might see what they're like cold (and maybe wet).

That is another option I hadn't really considered, but certainly one to think about.

Right, updates since the other week.

Discovered that both gearbox turret seals were in multiple pieces. Replaced both of them.
Hillclimb with the SDMA today. New PB of 51.57

Eventful weekend!

Finally got around to installing my power steering cooler on Saturday. For something surprisingly simple, some of those lines were an absolute hell to get off/on and thus the process actually took most of the day. No real problems through.

SDMA hillclimb on Sunday. No Steve present (presumably at the supersprint?) so I thought I'd be handed another easy class win. However, a Renault forum was having their national meet in Canberra last weekend so we had a bonus twenty-something Renaults competing too. This resulted in two relatively quick Clio's in my class. They were both Sydney-siders who had never dríven the track before, so I had the edge for the first few laps until they started to get the hang of the track. On their third run, one of them managed to pip my best time so far that day by 0.01! (Respective times were 52.38 and .39 I think?) My fourth run felt really good and I thought I had him, but no such luck. Luckily he didn't go any faster either. For my fifth and final run though I managed to knock another half a second or so and get down to 51.7? This was not only enough get me the class win, but is now my second dip into the 51 second bracket. What makes me feel really good though; this is my first class win where there has actually been other people in my class! Yay.

As we were packing up the thought popped into my head that I haven't actually taken real photos of our new LE yet. So I called Carlie on the way home, got her to meet us at the car wash, washed both cars and then went and took some photos. My housemate came along with his decent camera and he's only got around to uploading a few photos so far, so you only get the one for the moment.

Yeh, Steve was at the supersprint on Sunday. His car ran smoothly all day, which was a great relief for him, considering his recent dramas.

New PB of 1:15.83! (over my old PB of 1:15.98) and 5? different dips in to the 15 second bracket!

Also, broke my lip after my excursion between turns 4 and 5

Had a motorkhana with the MG Car Club of Canberra yesterday and what fun it was. Seriously, motorkhanas are really fun. I know the club track days are relatively laid back but this takes it to another level. You get an incredible mix of cars and people, you stand around talking crap for most of the day, then go out a cut skids every now and then. There's no helmets, no clothing restrictions, open slather on passengers; all without ever having to change gear. Oh, and the entry fee is only $30. Brilliant day!

The main goal for myself was to beat my housemate Richard in his 'recently significantly more modified' MX6. Which I did! Even managed 7th outright and 2nd in my class (got pipped by a Nissan Micra that regularly runs the hillclimb too).

Didn't take any photos myself but had a chat to a few different people there with camera on the day so hopefully some photos should surface soon enough.

Yeah motorkhanas are basically what you want to do at maccas on a thursday night lol.

No but seriously, yep, shoot the sh!t, do some 2nd gear drifting in a carpark, repeat. And Less than a twelth of the price of a Negligent driving fine, that you cop when you get done for it in the maccas carpark lol.
