Postby criss » Thu Sep 01, 2011 3:17 pm

will put on a new clutch and flywheel on sat, and decided to have a bit of driving after that( haven't drive for 3 weeks) :frown:
i heard that the running in is important for the first 1500km??? is it true?
if so, what should i do to run it in and is there anything i shouldn't do during the period???

Ive never 'run in' a clutch. Engines of course, brakes every time, clutch... Never heard of it.

When we installed the xtreme HD clutch, Xtreme just told us not to do any hard launches, or ride the clutch for about 1000ks.

No idea what could happen if anything but decided to take there advice and so far no issues.

Big thing is to recheck and adjust the free play after about 1000KM of driving.
as the clutch fricton plate wears in it MAY require adjustment.
it is more an ARSE covering thing for mechanics than anything else

Running in a clutch is not necessary. Abusing clutches such as riding a clutch - example driving with pressure on the clutch pedal is a good way to shorten its life.
