That's a shed load of work for a car that doesn't need a paintjob.
Wish you were in WA and you could help me out with a hail damaged one. Now that really does need some attention.

That's one lucky teenager, I don't know too many people that had such a nice first car.
How does the MGF compare to the MX5 in terms of driveability, reliability, comfort, handling and performance?

nitro dann's right. the mx5 is by far a superior car in all aspects. but that part aside if your after a car that turns heads then this one does the job.
it's not a fast car but a good girly car. daughters only had her license 3 months but loves it. actually i've heard the same said about my mx5 - nice girls car.
the mgf's a 2002 model and when purchased had 34,000klm. i bought it for myself but after a couple of weeks couldn't live with the P.O.S. so i said to emma ( her name is on the bonnet) if you want it - its yours when you get you license .
so i then repainted it in a nice safe bright yellow.

Also,
Im surprised you bought the boxter over an se for any reason. Ive had a good go at a couple of them, and Z3s (no z4 though), and I dont think it comes close in any way except for the badge.
Boxter has nice brakes though.

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
when in the boxster i found every-one was out to see how much money they could get out of you. in other words most thought that you were loaded. not the same with the z3 or z4 most people just like the car.
i would put the z3 and z4 the worst handling cars i've ever dríven/owned.
i had 3 - the 1.9 was not bad but the 2.8 and the 3.0 litre were shocking. they just wouldn't steer through a corner. they just kept tracking straight on.
very scarey, always had both hands tightly on the steering wheel and always under pressure. not so with the mx5 - a great little machine.
z4 wasn't much better especially with the 18" run flats on my red car.
two of the Z's only had 26,000klm on the clock the 2.8 and the z4 so were hardly worn out .
if i had the z3m or z4m - that i'm sure it would have been a more positive out-come but when i bought the z4 @ $55k it was $20k more for the M.
would i buy another z3 - yes i would for a bit of pose value and i probably will in the next 12 months. but the se a keeper because it's enjoyable, doesn't break down and starts when you turn the key.
more work on the tear down of the se tomorrow. hope you enjoy the read

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
I haven enjoyed it
As for the z3s and the boxters, I havent dríven either daily, so Ive no idea of the pose factor.
I found the z3 useless in every way, and I got out of the porsche last time and straight into my car, and it was like going from a ride on lawnmower to a go kart

I appreciated the number plate on the silver Z3. Not so much the front bumper on the black one.
