Just maybe.

Im so keen I can hardly wait. Ill have 30 kilos less weight than ever before. 20 odd hp more than any other track day, new bushes, finally a god damned race seat in it, and some new r specs. Never tracked this car on them. no oil leaks either. Im sure theres more... More bracing. Getting so much work done while its out of rego.

Is there a september 4th thred yet?

Just used half a can of this in the inlet manifold (sprayed past the open throttle butterfly), cranked over & waited for 10 minutes as per Dann's notes, then started and ran at moderate revs for a few minutes. Was a bit of whitish smoke on revving but not too bad, and smoke lasted for a minute or two. Car now revs smoother, feels less coarse, and the little stumble that the car had just off idle when taking off from rest is now gone. The idle speed was not affected. Stuff seems good, does have a positive effect on the running of the car. Have saved the other half of the can for before the next service. Now for the oil change today.

Cool. So what, you walk into Subaru service dept and ask for a can? How come SuperCheap/Repco/Autobahn etc don't stock something similar.... Or do they?

Autoone/pro??? not sure which one at Chatswood, have a very similar product.
Can not quite remember the name but it was upper engine cleaner.
Can looked almost identical. Was about $15 a can from memory.

I bought it from Subaru spare parts in Adelaide. Yep, just ask for it, was $18.95.

You can substitute the Subaru cleaner with CRC/Nulon throttle body cleaner instead. Costs less & you get a much bigger spray can. Same procedure essentially.

It REALLY isnt as good. Theres a reason your local mechanic buys boxes of the subaru stuff.

The foam allows it to hit every part of the manifold, and the chemicals are much more powerful.

Well I'll certainly vouch that its made the engine seem to run smoother! Nice.
Idle speed did go up a bit so I adjusted it back. Now for subjecting the NA6 to the other can...

saw something similar at repco. I can't remember the name but the instructions were exactly the same as well as the can size. My next service I'll give it a go and let you know.

I just tried this today too. Fair amount of smoke on first start up.

THEN...when i was spraying into the small inlet the little plastic tube that comes with the spray can popped off and i wasnt sure if it got sucked in to the manifold. Turned it off and took off the intake and opened up the throttle to take a look.

Couldn't see it in there so i sprayed a bit more in there before closing it back up and starting it again. If the plastic tube did indeed get sucked in there it must have just melted away as I didnt hear or feel anything funny...so i guess just be careful!

I used it on my 5 today, when I nearly finished the half of can through the vacum hose, the nozzle tube was suddenly disappear.

But I couldn't find it around my engine. Is that any possiblity the tube was sucked into the intake manifold when I rev the engine?

Mine got sucked into the port, it ended up sitting just outside the intake ports in the head. I knew it had been sucked down so I decided to pull the intake manifold off to fish it out. And whilst at it, gave it a good and proper clean as well
