That's probably a question best asked of the owner. He knows exactly what has been done to the car, and he is also well qualified to advise on getting it engineered. :)

my car has cage, seats etc etc and is rego'd an engineeredin NSW and has a QLD mod plate
its not quick but its fun,.

if you want to go out and win - have 60k. buy an EVO and mod that.
MX5's wont set the fastest times - but my god they can be fun and can give a lot of cars a run for their money.

my suggestion?
buy an MX5 and just have fun!!!
get some seat time - look what Bryan is doing in little reddy!!

do a few sprints and then do some MX5 challenge rounds!

edit - Ive been on the skyline forums for a while, was the VP of the NSW club, had a heavily modded R33 - I get a few pm's a week on people from owning skylines asking for advice on changing to an MX5.

it is good fun, on a tight budget with a mortgage - it allows me to go racing 6 times a year which is good.
