anyone converted their NA to twin carb?
Speaking from experience, the twin SU set up on my AH Sprite was an absolute mongrel - very hard to get the car to run right, and when I did it did not last long. Bottom line, constant fiddling.
On the other hand, when I re-engined my Datto 1600 with an 1800 and put the SSS twin Hitachis (Japanese copy of the SU) on it, it seemed to hold its tune pretty well. Alas, I had not had it long with this setup when it met a sad end, if it had lasted longer I may have had a longer baseline to conclude whether these were as bad as the ones on my Sprite.
If you can get somebody who really knows their Webers, you can get a very good tune and because of the lack of moving parts, except for the throttle, it will hold that tune. SUs respond to the same expertise, care and attention but seem to lag behind in all the areas that matter - output, drivability, reliability (of the carburettors themselves), and most noticeably, stability of the tune.

Blue95t has it right. If you have never had a Webber fed car then you don't know what you've been missing.
I used to have a 1980 Mitsubishi 2.6l Sigma (I know your laughing!) with cams, decent exhaust (2" primaries) and twin dual throat 42mm Webbers. On a cold night I would take the air cleaners off and have bare ram tubes and go for a sprited run. The sound at WOT is PURE ORCHESTRAL in nature!! . Altitude made a definite difference to tune. The car was tuned in Toowoomba (nearest dyno) and ran sweet. Around home (Kingaroy) the car still ran pretty good, but drive to the coast and it was noticibly off song. A quick run home from Toowoomba on a cold winters night was a very enjoyable experience.

I think these guys do a B6 DCOE manifold http://www.piercemanifolds.com/
and these guys http://www.manifolds.co.za/index.php?op ... 5&Itemid=2

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I had the pleasure of having a close look at this car and chat with the owner at Eastern Creek last weekend. Looks great and sounds awesome, especially with the side-exiting exhaust! Clay has offered to write an article about the build, which will be featured in an upcoming issue of Club Torque (magazine of the MX-5 Club of NSW).
