Hey everyone, I would love your opinion.. I've had my NA8 a few months, I havent changed the wheels, i'm really thinking about it though. I'm just not a real fan of them.. they're a bit big for my liking, they are 17s. i was considering even getting stock NA8 15s from mx5 plus for $50 each.

What do ppl reckon about the current ones? Feel free to be critical, i dont really like them myself anyway. So should i be looking for new wheels? anybody reckon the stock NA8 15s look ok?

Yeah definitely get rid of those 17" wheels. In my opinion, anything bigger than 15" is too big for an NA and I'm sure 90% of the forum will agree. The NB 15" stockies look great on an NA mx5 and you will feel a difference rolling on 14-15" wheels after being on 17"s!
Either get a set of the NA8 stock 14" wheels or NB 15"s. It will make the car look a lot cleaner.

If you really wanted to, I'm sure you could trade those wheels on the forum for a set of NB 15'"s with tyres. Hit up the FS thread and see what happens. Worse case scenario, nobody makes an offer and you lose nothing!

Hi marty085, ditch the 17s! I have owned 3 NAs, one had 17s, one had the NB 15s that nanotech mentions and my current one has the Rota RB 15s (shown in photos above!). Moving to a 15 inch wheel will transform the ride and performance of the car. I agree with nanotech completely in his recommendation of the 15 inch early NB wheels on the NA, they look great and are LIGHT! Maybe pop the 17s on Ebay and see what happens. They'd look much more at home on a Commodore!

Let us know how you go :)

I tried NB8B 16"s on my NA6, and I immediately noticed it felt slower to accelerate and more reluctant to turn compared to the stock 14" daisy wheels. I bought some NB8A 15"s, and they feel no heavier than the stock wheels. If you can find some of them, grab them!

Okay thanks for ur opinions, I am looking forward to getting these clumsy things off, I'll definitely look for nb8a 15s coz I reckon they look awesome on na's , but if I can't find any in the short term I'll just get some na8 stock wheels to tide me over, I don't reckon they look too bad.

Contact Rain902 on the forum, he has a ton of wheels he needs to get rid of. Pretty sure there are a few sets of NB 15"s on there.

Hate to steal the limelight in this thread again, but i was wrong about my wheels.. i hadnt looked at them for a while.. they are actually 16s, with 205/45R16 tyres. Not 17s like i thought (rookie error) . do you reckon i will notice that much of a difference going to 15s? I still dont really like the look of them.

Should i stick with roughly the same kind of profile (45) ? I dont want to sacrifice cornering, otherwise there's no point having an mx5! what profile is too high?

I'm not sure what's too high but mine are 55 and they feel fine, I had those tyres on 6 inch wheels and handled good

Looky what arrived today...

These will be replacing the BBS's for daily duties.. the BBS are too valuable to leave lying around!

Geez, they dont make them like this anymore, the finish and detail is superb!
