I 'will' be 44, should i bring a cardy?

I think the defining feature of the limit is that you own a cardy. :P

Cardy's are only available on presentation of an MG Club badge, though they are much harder to come by now that Gowings have closed. :P

Oooh, ouch. You know what MG owners buy when they get too old to handle the MGB though, don't you? Either an MGF or an MX-5... :P

(Also, I had to look up what Gowings was...)

:D you don't know what you're up against. :D
As an ex MGB and MGY!!! owner in my youth, doing full restorations and track days breaking everything and never having one week off without repairing the MG, I believe anyone who goes down the MG track rather than an MX5 is I'll informed, crazy or has plenty of time and money.

Trust me, I know exactly what you mean. I'm on this forum, aren't I? But I still love my MG's, especially my dad's MGA roadster. There's a fantastic connection between car and driver which I still haven't experienced to the same extent in a '5, and the looks... mmmmm... When I come to buying my first car, though... well, like I say - there's a reason I'm on this forum.

I actually saw an MGA roadster and a Y tourer out on the roads today. Must have been a club event on.

Anyway, that was a bit of a tangent...

Having an MGA in my youth is what put me onto MX5's...have tried to set mine up to drive like an MG...just need to get a few more rattles and lower the door! On topic, I have just registered...now that its closed, I wonder how many we have coming?

About 140 people have already registered for Natmeet X. Registration for Natmeet X is most definitely still OPEN! Those who missed the 1st July deadline merely missed the opportunity to stage their first payment ($200). Those who now register before 1 November will have to pay the 1st ($200) and 2nd ($200) installments in one hit ... and the final installment of $145 by 1 February).

• NSW – 29
• SA – 12
• QLD – 18
• TAS – 4
• VIC – 2 ...
• ACT – 11

If we could get 7 WA members over for the Victorian event you'd think Victoria would be able to get more members to the ACT given it's less than a 1 day drive, you don't have over $2.5k in transport/airfares per person and you don't have to be without your car for a month.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Sad but true. :( At this stage there are only two cars from a Victorian membership of over 430 coming along. They’ll probably be carried around shoulder high to show that the NatMeet spirit is alive and well. 8)

Maybe the "recession we had to have" has had a bigger impact on the Victorian’s than any other state. I know that numbers are down in the State Supersprint championships from last year, not that I’m complaining about that because it means more track time for those attending but I'm sure finances play their part in all this.

But seriously, we were surprised at the lack of entrants given the NSW and VIC motorsport guys have a ball at the Interstate Challenge each year and I’d had thought that that same comradeship would have flowed into the motorsport section of NatMeet, together with the numbers they had at McLaren Vale in 2010 and Kooralbyn in 2006.

All’s not lost though as we are still hoping to pick up a few more Victorians as the year progresses but in reality there’s a catering limit that we’re rapidly approaching and once that’s reached people will go on a waiting list encase anyone drops outs closer to the event and provides a vacancy.

I do think it’s great to see 4 cars being literally shipped over from Tasmania to take part in the event, and yes I know that Tasmania forms two Chapters of the Victorian Club but that’s only because their numbers aren’t enough to form a Club in their own right.

That's an awesome effort from Tassie! I hope you make them feel welcome considering the extra effort they've made to attend.

Pft only 1,400 kms and only $73ish for a car on the spirit of Tasmania, I was expecting it to be much more expensive!

Still a great effort for both groups to make it to Natmeet, I hope everyone is made to feel welcome, especially younger members.
