I could easily add a connector onto the factory loom in a place that you cant see, and neat enough to look factory.
I dont mean cut it off and wire new plugs in, I mean splice a female connector into the loom neatly. Then plug your cops loom into that, and neatly tuck the old loom away.

That's definitely an option, and looking more and more like what I'll end up doing.
Was just going to exhaust all my options for 100% plug n play first before I go down that route.
(I can get the harness made up by some engineer friends, so its better for me to try for that until its obvious its a no go before I look into getting the car to them, or them to the car to do mods to the orig harness.)

Re: Coil Pack Connectors
The SplitFire CoP system has a small block of electronics from which two harnesses emerge - one to the 4 CoPs & the other to the loom subject of pics below.
Loom connector on left & CoP connector on right: these two plug together:
Loom connector:
CoP connector:
Connector at back of head which loom connector used to plug into (the connectors that used to plug into the coilpack are in the background):
A very similar connector (3 instead of 5 pin with locator recesses offset) to the one on the CoP that plugs into the loom:
