Are you sure they don't adjust rebound? Are you really sure?
. . . . .
I said
they do adjust rebound. I said most shocks don't adjust for
compression, which in the context of this discussion, I mean relevant and usable shocks for an mx5.

There aren't really that many single adjustment shocks for mx5's. If you look at two-way adjustable shocks, i.e. sports or agx's, the former doesn't adjust for compression at all and the latter adjusts for equal increases and decreases of rebound/compression (not ideal).
How many single adjustment shocks are there for the mx5, apart from Illuminas? I don't know of too many.
Ideally you want more rebound adjustment per click than compression, but naturally how much depends on a whole range of factors. This is how the dampening adjustment works on illuminas; it's progressive and the increases in rebound and compression dampening are disproportionate with a bias to more rebound.

Every tom, dick and harry is using Kings + Koni Sports. Kings cost $200.
I purchased my MX5 with Kings + Koni sports already fitted and I can't fault the performance of them.
Lots of people report the same, but at the same rate there are people who've had nothing but trouble with king springs, from coil binding to coil sag.
I'm not trying to steer ll_spud in one direction or another, just trying to get across some of the issues and points of view expressed in the broader community on the range of options available.
