Ha ha.... Turned out it wasn't leaking. I assumed it must be coming from the drain plug, but when I wiped it clean, no leak! There was a little residue underneath from when I first drained it, so I can only assume once it heated up it started to drip.... I checked the level and all was perfect and the plugs are still dry after some spirited driving.
Like your idea, but thought I better not try that without a rollbar...
